Since I was a young girl, whether it be for my loved ones or the underprivileged, I have always had an innate concern for those in need. My inherent compassion for the livelihood challenges of others has developmentally led me to pursue an educational life-long career as a guidance counselor and health-care provider. What I have learned in my experience, when caring for any individual, is that each person's needs are distinct and should not be identified as like any other individual. When an individual is challenged in any capacity, demonstrating you care in getting to know them as a person, their strengths and limitations with personable kindness, compassion, and patience, can make all the difference to the individual and the family members who depend on you as an extension of themselves. Sometimes a simple smile can make a person feel more relaxed and willing to work with you as a caregiver to aid them with their inability of managing their own lives on their own. I love the outdoors, fresh air, a nice stroll and picnics. I enjoy board games, cards, bingo and puzzles as well as crafts like painting and beading. I'm a very compassionate person, I care about the well being of people that may be lonely, frail, needing companionship and someone to talk with, also I love animals, I have 7 cats and 1 dog. I helped my mother in law thorough her golden years, she lived by herself on her house with 2 cats, so my husband and I visited her often to help cleaning her house, doing yard work, preparing meals for her and going with her grocery shopping or to the malls. What I enjoy is seeing that at the end of the day I helped someone with company, cleaning, and staying at their home with their happy memories instead of a nursing home where sometimes they don't get enough attention and all their needs taking care of.

What I believe that makes me a good caregiver is the fact that I truly believe that whatever we do in life, it will come back to us, therefore if I treat someone with love, kindness, and respect, I will receive the same when it is my turn to receive the same care. When I first became a CNA I enjoyed the interaction I had with my patients. Then I later realized how great is the need for the elderly to receive care, and sadly not many people are interested in this type of job. So I decided to educate myself in medical related issues pertaining to the elderly care. One thing that I'm most proud is that I used my skills to personally care for my own mother, as well as my mother in law before they passed away.

I work as a caregiver for almost 16 years and I do have compassion for an individual in need. Regardless of what color, status, culture, or situation. I like to help and what I enjoy most as a caregiver is when I see my client happy of what I do for them. My personal achievement for my job is making sure the client is safe and comfortable.
