My personality traits I would have to say that I enjoy making people laugh. I'm just a big goof ball. I'm energetic, I have a gentle touch and a warm heart. I got attracted to being a caregiver was because the elders have great stories, it sometimes takes me back in time like I was in their era. I enjoy being a caregiver because I want to help others, I want to learn and grow from them, the elders are so wise. The personal achievement that I'm proud of was the day I passed my CNA State Exam. Nearly almost 5 years and I've loved every minute of it, and I've learned so much

My love of being a caregiver is giving a personal touch to assisting with helping the elderly in their home as independly as much as possible.

I enjoy people , their stories , the life they have lived , events in history they lived through that I can only read about . I know and firmly believe God put me on this path of nursing for its what I enjoy , Can give back and where my help is needed . I believe their are nurses and then there are exceptional nurses . If I can impact one family , one person and make the quality of life the live better then I have done my job . Nursing is not just a career it's a life long commitment and friendship to a patient .

I take pride in what I do because my patients are worth every ounce of love and care that I am here to provide. I enjoy learning about them, attentively listening to their life journeys, and providing unconditional respect. Each patient I have encountered has left their unique footprint simply by providing this world with their presence, now it is my turn to give back to them.

I believe I'm a great caregiver because of all the experiences throughout my fire service career. This was over 25 years which included the rank of Fire Chief in two different cities. You're always working around people serving them and having their best interest in mind. During that time I also workwith a gentleman spending over three years in his home who was diagnosed with PSP. This included feeding showering companionship Total Care spending 24 hours a day in his home. I have also worked in a couple other nursing homes and assisted living facilities as a cook. Once again this allowed me to be around the environment of health care and serving the resident. I've also spent quality time in assisted living and Memory Care Facilities working with all kind of residence for different kind of diagnosis. Every time is allowed me to make a bond with all the residents and make it more than just a job but a place I wanted to be. This has allowed me to understand and realize how important it is to have compassion, patience, and a genuine sincerity as it relates to caregiving and home health. We are the ones who help ensure that all of our residents or people we care for in their homes have the dignity, respect,security and safety that they are entitled to and something I believe all of us need to have I like being a caregiver and a CNA because once again I am able to care for people take care of people, and be a part of their complete care plan. More often than not we may be the only ones left to assist them during this time in their lives I am currently a CNA ( Certified Nurse Aide) through 2021 in Texas my home state and have my CNA certification in 6 other states as well. I have worked in that capacity for the last 4 years. I have experience in a hospital setting, assisted living, and nursing homes , home health and long term care.

My name is Derriel Collins. I'm 20 Years old and I have a heart to serve others and I love it. I became a caregiver my senior year in college, and what I love the most about being a caregiver is that it's so rewarding, the feeling you get once all the work is done is priceless. My mom always tells me to treat the people that i take care of like i would want my parents or grandparents treated and I do my best to make sure that happens.
