I became a caregiver because my mother was a caregiver. I started out in my early twenties working at a small retirement home in Delray Beach Florida. I would joke around with the residents, help them with laundry, make their beds, help them during activity time, and just sit down to have conversation time. I learned very quickly that a little laughter, compassion and empathy goes a very long way. Never in a million years did I think I would be in the same type of job 30 years later. Does that tell you something or what? I have had many clients throughout time. The longest lasting ten years. The shortest maybe a couple of weeks to a couple of days. It all depended on the situation, why I was hired and what type of care was needed. I've always had a good relationship with mostly all my clients. Lets face it, you just can't please everyone all the time. Were human, right? Many times just because a job had ended, didn't mean the relationship with the client or family did. I still keep in contact with some. I enjoy taking care of the elderly because I learn something new with each new case. Just when you think you've heard or seen it all. You haven't. Each one has their own story to tell. It's like I come in as the caregiver but at the same time...I'm the blank pages of their open book, where they begin to write their own story through conversations. It's about their likes and dislikes, their care and concerns, their needs and what needs to be done to be sure those needs are met. My greatest achievements have been that of an open book of communication between myself and my client. Most times the ending story is good. Yet, in truth and fact, sometimes its not always a happy ending. There's sadness and disappointment for one reason or another. Yet, as with every story you move on and start a new chapter in a new book knowing you've done your job to the best of your abilities while providing the best possible care to your client.

I've been a caregiver and personal provider for many years along with being a certified nurses assistant for 32 yrs....I love what I do I truly believe it's my calling..I love making new friends and I'm a very down to earth, easy going person..I'd rather be more 1 on 1 these days and have time to be someone's friend instead of just being their Cna..I'm very proud of the fact that I've gotten to a point where I can do that in life..Looking and Hoping to Speak With You and Your Family!!

I become a caregiver because I care for the well being of people you always learn from them, I like learning about the past and how they got today. I like to help someone that needs help , I will do anything for the person , Ive always enjoyed taking care of people since I was 16, and will continue until the day I cant .

I am a kind loving caring person who absolutely loves people. I love being a CNA and getting to be a little part of so many lives. I've always wanted to be a CNA but the cards didn't line up for me until a few years ago. I knew without a doubt when my grandpa got sick and I had to take care of him that this is what I had to do, it was definitely my calling in life. I became a caregiver because I wanted to show people how passionate I am about helping people with daily activities, and things they cant do for themselves. I like being a caregiver, because I like the companionship. I like the friendship you get to build with someone on a personal level, along with helping them with their daily lives. My personal achievement that I am proud of is my seven year old son. I have put my all in being a single mother, even with all the medical conditions I was faced with him being a preemie baby. Hello my name is Latoya and I have been a caregiver for 7 years. I love taking care of people especially if they can no longer do it themselves. Helping and encouraging them to be mobile if possible while listening and engaging conversation on topics that are most important to them. I have knowledge of and experience with Senior care in different environments such as one-on-one home health/companionship, retirement homes, and assisted living facilities. I am trained in a broad range of dynamics pertaining to but not limited to special needs. Intense hands-on training and focus in providing care for m.h.m.r/disabled/dementia/Alzheimer’s, and disease debilitating patients. I am trained C.N.A and I know how to use proper technique for transfer/ambulation to those that are physically challenged, and have mobility/barriers. Further knowledge includes use of basic lifting, Hoyer lift, and gate belts for those who are prone to falls. I do believe in charting the progress of my patients so that their family, physician's and loved one's can keep up with their every day care and any changes that may occur. I am professional and honor confidentiality. I have a current driver's license and automobile insurance. I am a non-smoker and prefer to work in a non-smoking environment, and I am comfortable working in a home who has pets as long as they do not bite. I have training in incontinence care and able to change adult briefs.
