Being a single mother of two I did what I had to to raise my girls. Managing a restaurant was hard work and long hours. I didn't start doing what I wanted to until after they had left home. I've always felt a need to help others, even when I couldn't help myself . I'm compassionate , caring, patient, empathetic, and understanding of how certain diseases affect the patient. Not all stroke victims, Alzheimer's or disabled patients are the same. I work with people based on their personality and their specific needs. I was raised to treat people like I want to be treated and that's how I try to live my life

A great caregiver is someone who is kind, compassionate, and loving by nature. A generous, sensitive spirit can't be taught only given by the Creator Himself. Caregiving found me. The elderly, children, and animals bring joy to my heart. If I can bring a little peace and comfort into the life of another person I feel I've done what the Master called me to do. My career as a caregiver began by working in a nursing home facility over a year ago. I worked with respiratory patients, wound care patients, dementia patients, HIV patients, hospice patients, Alzheimer patients, and handicapped patients who had all of their faculties but because of missing limbs were unable to stay at home. I learned to give very basic to advanced care. While the level of care changed the one thing that remained constant was the need for a kind word. I was often asked to go into a room and communicate with a difficult patient because there was something about my calm voice and gentle nature that turned every tide into smooth sailing. I left the facility because it was heartbreaking. It should have been a place where every worker enjoyed working there. Instead finding someone who enjoyed their work was a rarity. I believe private duty will be much more fulfilling.

I have a great passion to continually love the work I enjoy. Its fulfilling and to have my client hold my hand with a smile gives great purpose to the work i provide. I've served in the military and I'm proud of that but after my father become very ill then psssed away I knew my calling had changed. I've been a caregiver at work and with my own kids. I love my job!! The bond that's created.

I have a sweet spot for the elderly,have a great ears for listening I just love hearing their stories..Not only do I care for the elderly I care for persons with disabilities too..Am proud to achieved my (HHA) diploma etc..

It takes a special person to be a caregiver, you have to like what you do, have respect for the elderly. Provide a personal touch to senior care. I took care of my grandmother and my ex-grand mother before they passed and I worked in a senior living facility for over 8 years and just enjoyed offering them a hand or helping when I could. I enjoyed being there for an elderly person that just need that extra hand someone that going to look out for them and not harm them. I remember telling my grandmother that I want to be a nurse but end up working in health care taking care of the elderly. Not a nurse but doing the same thing taking care of those in need!!
