Its a breath of fresh air and it encourages me to keep going . What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is the memories of the people who I take care of . Just listening them to them really motivates me and lets me know how much times have changed . Its really interesting to learn about everyones legacy . My personal achievement I am proud of is finishing school for Licensed Practical Nursing .
I became a nurse because my family asked me to care for my ailing grandmother and had confidence in me that I would be good at it. My grandmother's doctors complemented me on my good work also. Meeting new people and hearing their story is what I love about being a nurse. I have mostly worked with the elderly and they always have a good story to tell and are so full of wisdom. My mother says that I have always tended to people ever since I could walk good. And since I learned how to talk, I always said that I wanted to be a nurse. I am most proud of myself for knowing what I wanted at such a young age and actually achieved the goal of becoming a nurse. I am a LPN, have been for almost 4 years. I am currently trying to go back to school for my RN. I am new to this area coming from MS. I am married with 3 children and my family is my motivation.

What makes me a good caregiver is the fact that I was a nurse for forty years. I love working with people of all ages and all ethnicities. I am now retired. But I'm looking for work in a field I am experienced in; to supplement my income. I have also worked as a nurse consultant in a group home for mentally and physically handicapped patients. I have worked as a nurse in a jail and a prison caring for sick, drug addicted and mentally ill prisoners. I worked ten years as a EMT on the DC Fire department. I greatly improved my emergency skills as a nurse/EMT. I retired in 2014. Now I prefer to work one on one.
