I am a caregiver for 30 +yrs.i love what i do, though challenging at times i treasure my work.i was the baby of 4 my Mom had a massive stroke and as the baby of the 4 i, along with my husband cared for her at home. She was total care and i had 2 small children at the time as i said it was challenging, i reflect on that time as a privilege because i had a wonderful mother and she cared for me as a child when i couldn't care for my self and now it was my turn to return the love and care she gave me as a child.In addition , my husband and i also care for my father as well as both of his parents. As i said before it was a privilege to care for all our parents that is one of my greatest achievements.

I think its really important for a caregiver to be able to imagine themselves in their clients position. I'm extremely empathetic, having worked with people who were bed-bound and forced to stare at the same four walls, day after day. It is very important to display patience, understanding, and a light-hearted approach, as your client is most likely experiencing some level of (often undiagnosed) depression due to their circumstances. I treat my clients with the kind of dignity and respect that I hope I will (one day) receive from caregivers, and I do my very best to make them feel sincerely cared for. I make every attempt to anticipate my clients needs and I never hesitate to take extra steps to ensure my clients comfort and happiness. My clients have best describe me as kind, caring, honest, personable, and very organized. I love all animals, large and small! When I'm not working as a caregiver, You might find me teaching a painting class, professionally illustrating (or writing) a children's book, designing crafts, creating fine art or playing with my Havanese, "Eloise"!
