I have been taking care of people since I was 19. The first person was my great grandmother who had Alzheimer's. She was a hand full but I learned how to handle her so she wouldn't get upset. It was more companionship at first but as time went I on I would bathe and clothe her. I kept her dentures clean and cooked meals. As my life went on I helped my grandmother after her back surgery, grandfather during his recovery of cancer, and my aunt with COPD. In 2015 to 2017 I became my uncle caregiver when he was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. I watched him go from a healthy man to him taking his last breath. It was a sad time but I was grateful to be the person he wanted to take care of him. I believe he chose me because he know i had done it many times, I was in nursing school at the time and I loved him. He knew I would give him the best care. I love helping people and making them comfortable as I can. When people are sick they just need someone to listen and make them feel their best at that time. Anytime I can make a person forget that they are sick even its only for little while I think that's an amazing accomplishment.
