About Carrie

I have spent my entire career as a Registered Nurse trying to help people come to grips with what it means to suffer acute injury or chronic disease . Nursing has given me the opportunity to share in some of the most painful , and some of the most joyous times in a person's life. It is a privilege to be there at the most vulnerable times , to hold the hand of the patient , to reassure the family that everything possible is being done for their loved one. When I was a student , I did a lot of private-duty , one-on one care , and fell in love with it ! I can think of no better way to spend the rest of my working life than to return to caring for people in their homes , helping them achieve their best life possible.

Experience & Education

Charge Nurse RN

Sep 2013 - Oct 2017
Lakeside Oaks Care Center
As a registered nurse I coordinated care for up to 26 residents at a time , administering meds and treatments as well as supervising the CNAs assigned to the floor. I frequently assisted residents with their activities of daily living including , but not limited to , feeding , bathing , and dressing. I met with families on a regular basis to review the plan of care and make adjustments as needed. I am seeking a more client-focused , one-on -one type of relationship where I can spend quality time with my patient without the excessive regulatory requirements imposed on an institutional setting.I understand that more than likely I would be working as a home companion or health aide rather than a Registered Nurse , and that's perfectly OK with me . My extensive experience as a nurse will be an asset in recognizing changes of condition for appropriate follow up.
Sep 2013 - Oct 2017

House Supervisor

May 2008 - May 2013
Mark Twain Medical Center
I oversaw the daily patient flow throughout this rural critical- access 29-bed hospital ; I was responsible for ensuring adequate staffing on all units (ER , Med/surg , ICU , OB) based on census and acuity. I also floated to all units as needed to provide safe care , as well as providing meal and break relief as needed. I participated in numerous quality improvement initiatives and provided vacation relief in the Utilization Review office.
May 2008 - May 2013

MDS Coordinator/ Unit Manager

May 2005 - Oct 2008
Mark Twain Convalescent Hosp
I was responsible for the coordination and electronic submission of the Material Data Set (MDS) for each of 99 residents per State and Federal regulations ; prepared and updated care plans for each resident to ensure optimal care and correct reimbursement. In the role of Unit Manager , I directly supervised the licenses nurses and CNAs who directly cared for patients.
May 2005 - Oct 2008

Med/Surg Charge Nurse , ICU Staff Nurse

Feb 1993 - May 2005
Mark Twain Medical Center
This was my first nursing position out of college. As a critical -access rural hospital we had a small but flexible staff of nurses and I served in every clinical unit with the exception of Obstetrics ; I steadily progressed from staff nurse to charge nurse to hospital supervisor.

I became a caregiver to be able to help some one family get through difficult times that they may be having with their love ones. And be able to give and show support in their love ones daily activities. I enjoy being a caregiver because it gives me a chance to show myself approve to some one else's family. I am able to be responsible for my patients, take pride in my work, and be a team player. As well as letting the families know that they can rely on me at any giving time to provide good services to their love one. My personal achievement is taking care of my comatose son, and knowing that I was able to do the best job in providing care for him before he past. After he past I took the opportunity to go back to school and received my Patient Care Diploma, Nursing Aid/ Home Health Review Certificate, as well as my Phlebotomy Certificate. I take pride in my work when I am dealing with my patients, I make sure my patients mental, and physical health comes first as well as there families needs. I am a team player, responsible and a take charge person when need to be. I am also loyal to my patients and there families.
