I am a 57 year old very active mother-of-six. I have 19 grandchildren in which I am very proud of. I moved here recently from Little Rock Arkansas after retiring and after caring for my brother who passed December 11th of 2018. I enjoy being with people, especially individuals that I feel like that I can provide assistance to. Probably somewhat uncommon, I like to clean, cook, etc. I enjoy working in the yard, gardening, I enjoy doing puzzles, playing cards, just staying active.

Hi my name is Brenda Mercer. I was the caregiver for my brother from the time of his spinal cord injury in 2010 until he passed in December 2018. He was considered total/skilled care. During this time I was also the Executive Director of a programm that was charged with systemic change. We advocated, we provided trainings/education, information for individuals and families as well as legislatures . Additionally, we provided information regarding resources, availability, ec for individuals and their families with disabilities. We provided grants for various organizations to either enhance, continue or create programs and opportunities for individuals with disabilities. After I retired, I worked with individuals in their homes providing assistance with ad's, errands, housekeeping, etc. Although providing assistance with ADLs housekeeping and what other needs are necessary, I feel it is extremely important to provide friendship and companionship for individuals. After all, isn't that one of the most important things that we can give.
