About Ali

I have been around nursing facilities since I was a child. My mother has been a CNA from the time I was very young to now working as a Home Hospice Nurse. Growing up around that profession and going to work with her when I had the chance, it stuck on me. I knew from the time I was 11 that I wanted to grow up and have a part in caring for residents in their final stages. I have bent over backwards for my residents and their families, I'm often told I "spoil them too much," which I don't believe is possible. I am very flexible and can adjust quickly to different needs. I enjoy spending one on one time with residents and hearing all the stories about their past lives! Even though some days are extremely hard and you get so attached to residents making their personal struggles part of your own, I do not think there is anything else on this world I would rather do.

On Assisted Living, job responsibilities included: Assiting residents with getting in and out of bed, showers, dressing, changing, waitressing them during meal times, running food and drinks, cleaning tables after meals, helping residents to activities or back to their rooms, checking vitals, documenting percentage of how much each residents eats and drinks during each meal time, documenting toilet outputs for each resident, putting away laundry, making bed and answering call lights. On Memory Care, responsibilities include a lot of the same with a few more. Assiting/giving residents showers, occupying their time with games or dancing, changing/taking them to the bathroom frequently, and feeding or getting some residents started eating and they'll finish feeding themselves.

The same family called me back when the wife of previous stroke patient was diagnosed with dementia. My job then consisted of light meal preparation, light house keeping, making sure meds were taken every morning, assisting in the shower and taking resident for walks outside. The progression of her dementia was very rapid! I sat with her until she passed, as well.
