I became a caregiver for the simplicity - I don't say that meaning that care-giving is a simple job, yet I feel that caring for others is what my calling is. I am a woman and I have the built in instincts for care-giving. For instance, older people with Alzheimers and dementia need a different kind of care than someone that is recovering from a heart attack or stroke. I am not saying the latter are lesser medical issues, but someone who isn't "in their right mind" may need me to be their version of a wife, sister, daughter, granddaughter, etc. If I can make their day by portraying to them things that make their days pass a little easier, then that's what I will do. I takes a persuasion unlike any other to take care of those in the latter stages of these diseases. I also feel that it takes a special person to take care of anyone in need and I know I am that person. It has taken me too long to come to my calling but I am here now and willing to help in any way possible. Thank you for your time and consideration. I became a care giver after my husband became ill with cancer. The treatment he got in the hospital and hospice makes me sick to my stomach. Especially the way some nurses spoke to him. I then decided to become a CNA so I can help him and the other patients who really need proper care. To treat every one of my patients the way I would like to be treated if and when I get sick. Other words treat them the way I want to be treated. My personal achievement that I'm proud off is right after giving my client his bath on 10/28/14, he hold my hand and told me thank you for everything, and I love you then took his last breath. That told me for the five years I was taking care of him I was doing a good job. My name Jenette, I've been a CNA for 19 years. Worked at Lincoln Hospital in NY as a PCT for 5 years. Moved from NY to Atlanta GA where I've worked as a CNA or Home Health Aid for 12 years. I love my job very much. Taking care of the sick is what I do, and I do it to the best of my knowledge.
