Initially, I started as a caregiver for my mother. After being laid off from my job, I was asked to help out in different capacities: transportation, companion and home health for different agencies. What I like most is being able to help someone who requires assistance. A personal achievement I'm most proud of is my clients telling me I'm a good caregiver, because it is not for everyone. After three surgeries, and requiring assistance myself, I can actually see how important it is to have a caregiver who is caring and attuned to the needs of their clients. Bottom line, I treat people the way I want to be treated and everyone does not have that mindset. I develop relationships and treat my clients like family, whereas others approach it as just a job.
