My name is Gayle Lusk but I go by "Lisa", I have lived in Auberry for many years and very proud of my community. I am a compassionate and caring person. My main priority is to my clients. I have been taking care of the elderly, special needs, adults & children for over 30 years. I have a big heart and I always make my clients very happy. The best part of caring for someone is seeing them laugh and enjoying my time with them. I have worked for Foothill Elementary School since 2019 and I enjoy working with the children and watching them grow. I prefer not to work weekends but in a pinch, I would. Devoting most of my time to the care of someone else is one of the most selfless things someone can do, but it's not only about the time involved. Being able to understand the person you're caring for, knowing their problems, challenges and desires will not only make it easier to care for them, but will undoubtedly improve the relationship you have with each other. Empathy is a big aspect of that, and being able to put yourself in someone else's shoes and be empathetic will only increase the quality of care you're providing.As instrumental as caregivers are, communication is key. It can be something as simple as going through the day's schedule, or complicated as discussing health concerns, but no matter what it is, it must be done well. Subpar communication will do nothing beneficial for the relationship, and in fact, could damage it. Furthermore, as it's likely there's more than one caregiver in the individual's life, and because of all the moving parts, communication is key to get information to all the relevant parties. Whether it's relaying health information or just remaining congenial, communication between caregivers is important, second only to communicating with the individual.

I am a caring compassionate person who loves to see and create happiness. I understand the frustration and limitation sometimes life brings upon us and am always willing to help to make things easier and a bit more tolerable when possible. I feel everyone should have companions by their side or near. I also understand in giving space when needed, though keeping a watchful eye for safety. I enjoy being able to help in any way possible. I am open minded and have giving heart to all that is set before me. I also enjoy sharing stories and being physically proactive in activities to support and/or maintain our health.

When I was 19 I got my CNA certificate and I realized that my passion was helping others especially senior citizens. I ran a child care for six years from 1994 until 2000. I worked for the county of San Luis Obispo as an addiction specialist through my internship for college and was hired as a paid intern at the same time I was also a caregiver. My last client I cared for had a tube feeding and ended up going into a senior home in September I've worked with a quadriplegic and I've worked for hospice care, palliative care, and I've also worked in facilities in the beginning of my licensing but ended up going independently through a referral service for home care in 2008. I feel Home Care is a better quality of care and because of that I became an independent contractor.

I am compassionate and a good listener. I am physically strong and self confident. I allow people to be themselves and don't push unless it's appropriate. I am patient and kind and I keep a home clean and tidy. I enjoy bringing positive energy into a situation and try to always look at the bright side, keeping in mind that sometimes people just need to feel their sadness or grief. I enjoy cooking and providing healthy meals as well as delicious snacks. I'm happy to help with plant care and pets. I enjoy getting to know clients and their families and giving them the assurance that their loved one is getting the best of care.

I became a caregiver when my father got sick i took care of him for about 4 yrs before he past we went as far as hospice but at least i knew that he was comfortable and was where he wanted to be and that was at home. I feel good about seniors being able to stay in there homes rather then nursing homes. My biggest personal achievement was raising my son by myself and seeing that he is so sucessful. He graduated Fresno State na works for a local news station and for that I'm very proud. I am a mature women with no children living with me so I have all the time in the world to help pleasing others I have my own transportation and I look forward to finding new clients.
