Summer Update [?]: I am free and available for the entire summer until day after Labor Day, in which afterwards, I go back to my schedule below. After Labor Day Availability: I am available late evenings, overnight til 4am w/sleep, & some weekends can be negotiated. What makes me a great caregiver is my patience and ability to take the lead to discern when a situation needs action or not. I have had many clients whose demands were very different but I adjusted right away bc I do understand the need for each person to have dignity and still feel as though they have a level of independence. I have serviced those as young as 38 with terminal cancer to those who were a mature age of 88 with heart, mobility, and respiratory issues, dementia, Alzheimer's, and bed-ritten, so I am well-rounded. I am a mother of 2 boys now young men and I am married but I have still devoted countless hours for my clients, even living in with them 24/7 and working 12 to 24 hour days, 7 days a week. I do not mind at all. I am gracious and love people too much. I will be a promising catch. I am a natural caregiver as the parent of a profoundly disabled, non-ambulatory, non-verbal child. I have experience doing all types of related tasks such as positioning, bathing, transfers, therapy assistance, g-tube feedings, pulmonary therapies, and schedule management. And I do so with a good attitude and plenty of patience. I can relate to the challenges that come with aging, disability, neurological conditions, and metabolic illness. I have an extensive knowledge of the human body as a martial artist and massage therapist. I am excited by specialized diets such as very low carb/ketogenic and have been practicing medicalized and blended diets for over 7 years. Within my personal life, I believe in all natural, spotlessly clean environments, and know that organization is key to keeping life running smoothly. I am punctual and reliable. I have always viewed life's challenges as opportunities for growth. Helping troubleshoot the issues that come with disabled life, hacks and assist others in recapturing a sense of normalcy is what makes me most happy. 1.) What makes me a great caregiver?
First, I have empathy & compassion working with client in a home care setting. I feel the desire to want to help. Knowing the care about the client & want to do what they can to help them. Secondly, full of patience & understanding. Third, reliable & dependable, can be counted on. Fourth, trustworthy, working & giving care 24/7 or being invited to be in their home, near to their valuables & being trusted to keep client's information confidential. Fifth, flexible. Unexpected events can happen, always prepared to go with the flow, be able to continue to provide good home care, even if a rigid schedule isn't being followed.
2.) Why did I become a caregiver?
Since in my very young age I have always been interested in spending time with older people. I love to help & make people smile. I completed my Graduate in Nursing course in 1976 & Post Graduated in Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1978 & had my Masters in 2007. It was at that point that I realized that caring for people, especially the elderly was my calling.
3.) What is my personal achievement that I am proud of?
Actually, my biggest achievement in life was yet to come. I am always looking to achieve more tomorrow than I did today &;was striving to improve myself all the time.
