I am a mature woman with over 25 years caring for people of all ages and walks of life. I have bachelor degrees in Family Life and Human Development and in Nursing. I was a registered nurse for 25 years. I have extensive experience in home care, and especially enjoy home care because it gives me a chance to work in an environment in which people are the most comfortable. I don't believe in rushing because that is when you make mistakes! Take your time with your patients and care for them like you would want to be cared for when you get older. Or if they were your loved one! Let them know that you can be trusted. Keep them safe and their home safe from falls. Wash their face, comb their hair, brush their teeth, etc....make them feel good and refreshed! Respect their religion and ask questions! Listen to them and pay attention to what they are telling you. Respect them and their home! I love helping others that have a hard time helping themselves. It's rewarding to me and it comes from my HEART! I have helped my whole family who have passed in their home with cancer, heart problems, Parkinson's disease, and not one went to a nursing home! This is why I became a CNA! It gave me such gratitude and made me feel good to see them smile at me everyday for making them feel good! When I walk through a patients front door I walk into Their home! With a smile on my face leaving my problems behind me! It's all about the PATIENT! The Patient Always Comes First!!

I went CNA and HHA class to take care of my aligning grandparents. After they passed away I used them to get thru Social Work school. After getting my degree and working a couple years in social work I know it wasn't for me. I found a job that need my aide and got a job as a para at school. When my kids I work with for five years moved I went back to get my CMA, I have been a med aide for 4 years. I now want to go back to school LPN and to do that I need something that is more flexible and to keep people in their home as always been my goal. My personal achievement that I'm the most proud of is my two loving kids, and I've been married to my high school sweet heart for 21 years. I'm a very hard working, and I tend to be a perfectionist. I think God every day for the blessings I have in my life.

Becoming a caregiver has been a great experience for me. I have learned so much from working with seniors and the great stories and life advice I get has been what makes working as a CNA something I love to do. I'm reliable and very hard working, always ready for the day staying positive and having compassion for others. I have been working as a caregiver for 10 years and have worked in skilled nursing homes, rehab, home health and hospice. Able to help with personal hygiene, showers, getting ready in the morning or getting ready for bed. Transferring in and out of w/c, meal preparation, meal setup, medication reminders, transportation for errands or doctor visits. One on one companionship and help with daily needs.
