I was first introduced to home care when I was a teenager as my grandmother suffered from Breast Cancer,I became her primary caretaker,so upon my 18 th birthday I went ahead and took the CNA/HHA CLASSES.I truly love what I do,it gives me great pleasure caring for someone,also being able to care for someone who needs to be cared for,and wants to enjoy thier last year's in their home.I have been doing this (care taking) for 26 years. I enjoy working with people and most enjoy jobs where i have one-on-one interaction with others. I enjoyed taking care of elder family members and like to help others in this way. I like older adults and feel i can get along well with a variety of elders.

I'm very understanding and punctual , and treat people like people. I have respect and can understand boundaries , personal space but also reach goals that need to be reached. I started doing caregiving after my great grandmother passed. She was completely independent and ended on hospice so I learned it all starting with her and when she passed I missed that feeling of helping someone and the joy I brought to them. I'm proud of the women my grandmother raised and how she never needed for anything as long as I was around.

I started caring for folks because back in Africa, we care for our family members so it has been something in my nature to care for people. When I care for elderly folks, I treat them as if they were my family members. I've worked with all types of senior patients. I became a personal care assistant back in 2016 due to my mom being diagnosed with ALS, she is why I love my job she gave me the courage and love I needed and it's my promise to treat every client with the utmost respect. Being able to assist with everyday needs, personal care, medication assistance, assistance with physical therapy, and I also have a good amount of expierience with demetia Alzheimer's and depression and anxiety, daily excercise and staying hydrated is a huge deal with my clients. I'm proud of myself because for the past 5 years I've been a single mom and my family is very important to me, especially my oldest who went through chemotherapy for over a year and beat stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma. I stayed with him through his journey and I stayed strong and healthy through it all!!
