My Name is Kimberly Baker, I first wanted to become a Caregiver when my grandmother became ill when I was nine years old. I started my career in senior care in 2018 and I had the best times with all of my residents that i would care for. I then started working in behavioral care with children and that was an amazing time in my life but when it couldn't work around my nursing school schedule I then changed jobs to a CNA at Forrest General hospital taking care of all types of patients who need total care and the majority of my patients have became a part of who I am and a big reason of why I am becoming a Nurse.

I have been a Certified Nursing Aide for 10 years. I have currently been employed with Brandon Nursing and Rehabilitations, since April 2016. What I enjoy most about being a CNA is that I'm helping the people who needs help with their daily care/living. I enjoy making my clients happy and keeping a smile on their faces. I have had to take care of parents with illnesses one parent was terminal. And I know first had how it can be some what overwhelming. To have someone there to help and care for you love ones the way that you would is a great weight of your mind. I like the fact that I can help someone have a peace of mind. That I am giving care to someone in need, the client and their love ones. I am proud that I received my degree as Medical Assistant. I am currently studying to take my state exam and I am also a Certified Phlebotomist. Being able to finish my degrees with a family was a challenge but I had a great support systems. I am a mother of 4 ages (25, 21,19, 4) and I am raising my 10 years old niece. When I was 18 I went to school to become a certified nursing assistant. I worked as a CNA for about 5 to 6 years then I moved to retail. My parents thought that would be good for me but, I was young and thought otherwise. Now I feel that I have come full circle in my life, and being a caregiver has always been in me. My mother was nurse and my father a therapist. I have been a caregiver all my life in some form or another. So I guess you can say that caregiving has been my life gift for awhile.

I became a caregiver because I enjoy helping those in need. Space and opportunity is what I like most about being a caregiver because it gives me the chance to show my caring abilities as well as my nurturing abilities. a personal achievement I am proud of and dealing with a nursing home is when one of my patients who was not able to feed her Self, overtime became able to do so. I am very loyal caring outgoing I love to smile and I love and enjoy life I love helping others and by knowing that I can help others and allow them to smile it's rewarding to me.
