I am 40 years old. I was an LPN for 19 years. I have been a personal caregiver for the past 3 years. In my nursing career I have worked in nursing homes and in a critical care hospital. I enjoyed both very much but my heart is in geriatric care. I have specialized in caring for dementia patients for the majority of my career. I love taking care of people and take great pride in my work. I have learned a lot while working in the healthcare field but my favorite thing about this work is that you continue to learn new things every day. Each person I care for is different and original in the things they like and dislike and getting to know them is key to being the best caregiver I can be. No matter what I learned in school the best education I could ever get comes from getting to know each one individually and having the opportunity to work with them.

Skills & Certifications: Palliative Care, Blood Disorders, Depression, Vision and Eye Disorders, Stroke, Tracheotomy / Ventilation, Skin Disorders, Respiratory Disorders, Renal and Urological Disorders, Post Surgery Recovery, Parkinson's Disease, Orthopedic Care, Multiple Sclerosis, Neurological Disorders, Hospice Care, Home Health Care, Hearing Disorders, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Diabetes, Dementia, COPD, Cardiovascular Disorders, Cancer Recovery, Arthritis, Alzheimer's Disease, ALS

My grandfather was my best friend growing up and I had the privilege of assisting in his care the last few years of life. I am a single mother to two young boys and attempt to work primarily while they are in school for half days. I am a 22 year-old, Certified Nursing Assistant looking to help, love and care for others who cannot to do so, entirely, on their own. Aside from my outgoing and selfless personality, I am a very hardworking, honest and trustworthy individual trying to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse. To say the very least, I love people! I enjoy talking with and learning about others, their history and experience as a human being. Nonetheless, I take great pride in helping others to reach their full potential despite the presence of any self-benefit or lack there of. Since the moment my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, I was certain that I would work in the medical field. At the age of 10 when I learned about my mom's diagnosis, both my mind and body were taken over by this burning passion to enter the field of oncology. However, I discovered through personal experience that the nurses, who cared for my mom day in and day out, were really the people who made the biggest impression and ultimately, made all the difference. Had it not been for those considerate, loving and beautiful souls who cared for her, my mom's battle against cancer may have been MUCH more heart wrenching and devastating to our family. Among other things, their comfort and support motivated my mother to keep pushing even on her worst, most brutal days. With that, It would be an honor and my absolute dream come true to have the opportunity to provide such sincere love and generosity to other people, with hopes of making the same difference that those nurses once did.

Skills & Certifications: Diabetes, Dementia, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Cancer Recovery, Arthritis, Depression, Hearing Disorders, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Cardiovascular Disorders, Alzheimer's Disease
