Being a caregiver for the past forty years has given me countless opportunities to help a variety of people. I have dealt with many different situations and illnesses in all age groups. I am a compassionate and patient individual. Nursing is my career. I started in 1978 as a certified nursing assistant and went on to graduate in 1995 as an LPN. My specialty is geriatrics mostly in skilled nursing facilities. Presently I work private care only. I much rather prefer to focus on individual care now. Having taken care of both of my parents at home and having years of nursing background, I am more than qualified to take care of your loved one. I will provide a relaxing, stimulating environment where they will feel safe. All the while making sure their daily needs are met. Providing nutrious meals and snacks is also important. I have specialized knowledge of Altzeimers and dementia. I have no problem giving insulin shots or morphine as I worked in hospice care. I am single with my son grown up. I have a very flexible schedule yet do make time for myself. I keep Sundays free for church and family. I prefer to work day hours, but will work some evenings if needed. I can only help your loved one if they are able to be mobile as I have a lifting restriction. I can assist someone in and out and up and down, but not if I have to lift. I also help with errands, light housekeeping, medication reminders, and will offer any helpful info if needed for your loved ones care. Thank you for taking the time to read about me.

What makes me a great caregiver is providing the best care to my residents, being dependable, respectful, making sure my resident feels safe and is safe at all times, & I always treat my residents as if they were my own family. I became a caregiver because it is my passion to help people and become a good nurse for those who need care, I also love the elderly because I'm so close with my grandma. being a caregiver to me is very rewarding. what i love about being a caregiver is the rewarding feeling everyday that i go in to when I clock out to leave, making sure my residents are loved, cared, and meet their everyday needs, and nothing feels better than my residents having a great smile on their face and saying thank you. I feel most accomplished is when I complete my assignment and I know that I did my best taking care of my residents.

I am very attentive to the details and needs of the family and patient. I am careful with following instructions. I am a very loving, caring person and I get attached to my patients easily as if they are family. I feel care giving/nursing is God's work. Also, I believe in caring for people, giving them their dignity in their last years of their lives, and I am fulfilling a divine purpose in life for me. I enjoy most the companionship, keeping the patient's dignity and cleanliness, and giving them comfort, care and a feeling that they are not alone. Being there for them. I cared for a dying woman and we had the worst snow storm in Lancaster County. She passed away that night and the undertaker was called. We had to even shovel the snow to open up the driveway. I helped the family do that. This was beyond the call of duty, but I felt that I could do anything to help them out. I worked outside of the required time and the agency gave me a letter of recognition for going above and beyond the call of duty. I also cared for a family, a husband and wife team, for eleven years until they went to a nursing home. Their children were doctors and nurses. They really appreciated everything that I did for their parents.
