When my mother was ill, I was the one she would call to make her scrambled eggs. I took her to the swimming pool and hot tub to get exercise and relaxation. I cut her hair, took her to doctor's appointments and then lunch, and generally gave her some companionship. As I dusted her knickknacks, she told me where each was from. Mom died in 2002. When dad was ailing, some of my family tried to move him into assisted living, but he wanted to stay in his own home. I gave up my apartment and moved in with him, while working in publishing during the day. We had a great time together for a year and a half. Just after he died, I lost my job because I had spent too much time with dad. That evening, the daughter of a neighbor I'd assisted over the years called me, asking if I could help her mother. That began years of caregiving in which I have helped people stay in their homes, and enjoy life. I've brought my keyboard and played hymns and popular songs, singing with them and laughing. As a caregiver, I am simply happy to help my people stay in their own familiar setting. I believe the way I interact with them makes them happy. And my cooking makes them extremely happy! I built my cooking experience on my mom's, then learned to cook for fewer than 8 people! I edited three "Taste of the Country" cookbooks, working with a professional dietician who taught me many ways to fit dietary needs while providing tasty food.
I have a been a personal caregiver for over 15 years I started out working as a Cna in nursing home and I thoroughly enjoy and love the helping others out. It is very fulfilling to me knowing I can help out in any way I can by just simply being there when they need someone. In addition to providing companionship, I can help monitor medications, prepare delicious meals, keep home and laundry clean, transport to Doctors appointments, etc. Your loved one will be in good hands when they are with me.

I really enjoy taking time from my personal life to help someone else in need. I find I learn a lot working as a caregiver which gives me joy to know I'm able to be a caregiver. I find that I like the most about being a caregiver is developing new relationships and being able to carryout my duties as a caregiver. My most personal achievement is being able to help my daughter spell her name so she can be success in school. I'm very creative in my everyday life to ensure I learn new skills. My biggest drive is staying positive and strive for better to obtain goals in life.
I'm UPDATING my profile today, 6-3-2019, to reflect an upcoming change in my life: I plan to move in with my 86 year old Dad, next month. He loves to drive (he has 4 cars!) but his doctor has suggested that he not drive alone to unfamiliar places. (He has memory loss and gets turned around easily.) What I love about the Carelinx platform is that it allows me to offer my services as a professional caregiver to families that need my help while being able to care for my family members, too. I have over 17 years of experience as a caregiver and a sympathetic ear, especially when it comes to caring for elderly parents! I can understand how you feel because I'm going through and have gone through many of the same things. (My Mom passed away in May 2014.) Feel free to contact me if you need a caregiver for 2-3 days per week, for 4-6 hour afternoon shifts or if you just need to talk to someone willing to listen. May the Lord bless and comfort you through these challenging times. - Stephanie
What makes me a great caregiver? I love people and just knowing am able to give back to my elders is amazing. I am a caregiver to everyone my own children, others children, elders and people on the street by feeding them and just assisting them where its needed , giving words of encouragement. Around the community people call me mama/ mama nay-nay or grandma. I feel God put me on this earth to care for others besides myself. I have always put others needs before my own. I will go without just so someone else is able to be okay. Am humble, funny, lovable and caring. Am very proud of all my accomplishments but most of all Receiving my Masters in Human Services was one I was most proud of. Loving others is what I do best.
What I think makes me a good caregiver is that i am loyal, patient, compassionate to whom i work with becasuse I know people that need the help have it hard. So to have a trustworthy hand to help with ever day need is why i feel this was made for me. I became a caregiver because of my sister whom have been in a group home all her life an also because of my grandmother whom passed in 2010. What I like about being a caregiver is the people you met an the life lessons you learn while doing you work.
I'm very trustworthy, honest and kind person. I became a caregiver because my grandmother suffer health issues that couldn't not be met in a traditional senior living facility so I took several class to learn all the cares she needed at the time. However one thing that I enjoy the most as a caregiver is smiles and laughter from a patient that's comfortable with the way I care for them. One thing that I person achievement that I'm proud of is giving back to others that needs help.
Very caring and out going. I grew up with a physically challenged brother who needed complete care. this taught me to be compationate and aware of boundaries. Caring for those how I would like to be cared for. Took CNA course while raising 2 children and working full-time. This January recieved CBRF certification.
I have a genuine passion for caring for the elderly community . I find true honor in helping with anything I'm available and able in my will power to do to make life easier. I am a honest, caring, reliable caregiver. I have been experienced in caregiving for 6+ years and I am Certified in CBRF. I Also have Certification in Medication Administration.
