I am deaf with cochlear implant, uses ASL (American Sign Language) and English. I am a college student attending HCC, I went to WSU Tech for 3 1/2 years and just now recently transferred to HCC. and I have a part time job where I work at is my favorite place to work and loving it everyday. I am very determined, honesty, team player, compassion, caring and loving the people I take care. I am friendly and always willing to cooperate with anything and are willing to work things out if it gets in the way. I am willing to work with the schedule way around it. I am a CNA and CMA at my job for almost 7 months now and I am certified CNA and CMA for a year now. I do have 3 certification is CNA, CMA, and Phlebotomist Tech. I am working on getting HHA certification then two degrees of Nursing; LPN and RN. Being a caregiver is my passion because I love taking care of people and give them the best care that they do deserve it! I enjoy go over and see them, checking in, help with anything they needed! I would DO ANYTHING to put a beautiful smile on their face. I love to cheer them up and make sure they are having a good day with a big smile on the face! My personal achievement I am proud of is that I have overcome ALOT of things in my life right now also with a bad childhood growing up but still fought through it! I am first high school graduate and first attending in college. I am a honor roll student throughout the years of high school and college. I have 3 certifications in medical field! My dream is to own a nursing home for Deaf & Hard of Hearing residents with D/HH workers that are able to uses sign language and make the environment comfortable and easier for each other!

I became interested in caregiving when I first worked in a nursing home doing housekeeping. I saw how nurses neglected the residents and hated it! I became more interested when I was given the opportunity to care for a man who couldn't be mobile due to robbers beating him up.. I made his meals, did his laundry, houeswork, and fed his dog. I also gave him piece of mind enough to sleep. For the first time in months, he slept a full twelve hours in bed (he'd been sleeping in a chair). These simple things mean a lot to someone who can't do them anymore. I'm dependable, trustworthy, patient and, also a mom which means, taking care of others comes naturally..

I love helping people in need, regardless of how little or big the issue. I have been a Caregiver since the age of 10 when I started babysitting. Hi there! My names Sarah Simon, and I'm 56, married to my wonderful husband Ron, and we have two children, Chris and Dustin. I spent the majority of my career working in the accounting field. In 2013 my eldest son was needing to undergo a double lung and liver transplant, so Chris and myself were forced to move to St. Louis to be within range of the hospital. A year and a half later, and after my son's transplant being a success, we were able to move back home to Garden Plain. Once home and looking for new jobs, I decided that it was time to find something new. I wanted to find a job where I could make a difference in the life of someone else rather than punching numbers into a calculator. I decided that the perfect job for me to do was to become a home care-giver. It allows me to help others who may not be able to help themselves, but my favorite facet of the job is simply the companionship that I can give to a patient, and also that I can find a new friend in all of my patients. The most special thing about my job is that I get to know the patients on a personal level just by being able to provide care and spending time with them.

I've been a nurses aide since I was 16 almost everyone in my family is either a nurses or in the health care field, I love what I do and have a blast helping others and making them feel loved and acknowledged. I love to smile and make others smile . My job means the most to me . I've achieved a lot as an aide but my happiest moments are making someone smile that hasn't in a long time .

I have been a caregiver for over 10 years and have found it to be the most rewarding and enjoyable position I've held. I very much enjoy connecting one on one with people and I get a great sense of happiness knowing that I am directly helping a person who needs my help. I have been described as extremely patient and calm, and I find that those traits greatly help my ability to be a good caregiver. When people begin to age and/or their health deteriorates, life generally moves at a slower pace for them. Their ability to move quickly and to think quickly declines and it is very important for caregivers to be patient with them. That is something that comes naturally for me. I have learned how to balance the tasks of offering the person my physical help, and my companionship. I recognize that companionship is a very important part of this job! As far as the physical help I offer to my clients (cleaning, meal prep, toileting, grocery shopping, etc...) I am not one to sit idle. There is always something to be done around a home and, rather than watch tv (unless that's what the client wants me to do now and then!) or play on my cell phone, I will happily do them. Growing up with a mother who always cooked meals from scratch, I learned a great deal about cooking. I love to cook and bake, and am always up for making good, healthy meals from scratch. Whether I'm assisting my clients while they work in the kitchen, or doing the bulk of the cooking myself, I am great in the kitchen and love to provide great food for my clients. I can offer very satisfied reference, whether they come from the families of past clients or from fellow caregivers I've worked beside in the past. I am flexible schedule-wise and am used to the flexibility that is necessary to work with a rotating team of caregivers.
