Approximately 15 years ago, I became my mother's Caregiver after she came home from Rehab for a major stroke. After working in a Family Medical office for a couple years, I began my Caregiver career. In the past 10+ years, I have worked as a Home Health Aide and CNA, providing many services to families and their loved ones, including (but not limited to) Alzheimers, Dementia, Quadriplegic, and Hospice Care. Services provided include companionship, transportation, meal prep, feeding, light housekeeping, pericare, input/output, taking and recording vitals, catheter care, colostomy care, medication reminders, assistance with bathing, showers, dressing, transfers, wound care maintenance, and oxygen maintenance. My special focus has been with Alzheimer's and Dementia care. I am a CNA and certified in CPR and First Aid, and continue to work on completing additional medical courses and pursue avenues to help strengthen me as a Professional Caregiver. A personal achievement I am proud of is when my patient was angry at me for 2 months because she has Alzheimer's and thought I had locked her out, I apologized many times everyday until she realized she had been angry for no reason and apologized. I was very happy for not becoming angry even when she was yelling and apologizing many times although I hadn't done anything wrong. My ability to understand where she was mentally helped me to grow and care even more about her.

I am very loyal and trust worthy. I became a Caregiver because as a teenager, my family took care of my grandfather who was bedridden and had dementia. I was in charge of his breakfast and morning medicine. I found much fulfillment and dedication to help those who can not help them selves. My personal achievements that I am so proud of, is that of the personal relationships I have made throughout my career! One client asked me, "Why are you so nice to me?" I have an associates degree of RN and have taken care of people with a wide variety of conditions. I am educated and skilled in the nursing field and believe it is my calling. I became a Certified Nurse Assistant my senior year of high school and started working in the nursing home the month i turned 18. I have had my CNA license for a year and have enjoyed working with my residents. I no longer work at the nursing home because i have had to relocate and haven't found anything closer. I would love to get the chance to meet new people and work on a one on one basis with someone and help make their life a little easier. I became a care giver because I have a big heart and i have been told that by many of my former residents. I go above and beyond and will bend backwards to make sure that you or your loved one is PROPERLY taken care of. I have worked with so many people that have taken short cuts and don't care cause at the end of the day its just a job to them. But as for me i know that i am taking care of someone that is trying to live everyday a little more comfortable even though they cant do as much anymore, its not just a job for me. I admit i get attached but thats expected when you spend everyday with someone and know what they like to do and how they like things done. They become family .
