Hello, my name is Karen Palmer. I started doing in-home health care in 2010. I knew at an early age that working in the healthcare field was something that I wanted to do. I believe it is my calling from God. Therefore, I put my all into the care I provide for each individual. A few of my personality traits are caring, compassionate, understanding, loyal, and trustworthy. What attracted me to becoming a caregiver is both of my parents were CNAs, and as a child, they often took us to visit their job. I can remember sitting there watching the residents and feeling the need to help. It has always been in my heart to help those in need, and I was placed on earth to care for those individuals when needed. The things I enjoy the most about being a caregiver are knowing I did my best to help someone and seeing how thankful they are that I could help. The personal achievements that I am most proud of are returning back to school, receiving a High School Diploma, and graduating from college with an Associate degree. I did something I never thought about doing, and I did it for my children and myself. I couldn't be more proud of myself for setting goals and seeing them through to the end.

I am a Registered Medical Assistant with a current BLS/AED certification, Bachelors Degree in health administration, and a long term care certificate. With 12 years of experience working in health care. I'm proud to confess my love for assisting those in need. My joy comes from seeing smiling faces and hearing laughter. Charismatic, caring, and calm. My passion for health care first blossomed at the age of 10 where I learned how to assist with caring for my disabled older sister. Caring for my sister took a lot of time and patience, just as it does with the elderly population. The more knowledge and experience l've gained over the years, the more my passion has grown.

I was raised by my Grandmother so I have an old soul. It was instilled in me to Respect my Elders, All People and their Property. I've worked since I was 14 years old. Every summer I enrolled in the Summer Youth Employment Program. I know the importance of being at work and being on time. Although I do work for the money, my pride in the work delivered earns me every dollar I make. Caring for others is my specialty and I make sure my clients know they're not a burden to me. Things that help me be a great care giver is definitely Patience. People who need care often take longer to complete simple tasks. Empathy and understanding are absolutely necessary, Humor, Being Present, Detail Oriented, and being Able to Accept Help. What attracted me to being a caregiver is seeing the smile on residents faces after you've completed a tasks or doing something that they enjoy. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver would have to be listening to all of the stories that they have to tell and also helping them out as much as I can. What attracted me to becoming a caregiver is watching the nurses take care of my mom as she was passing from cancer. I love seeing the smiles on clients faces whenever I can make them happy. I'm proud of sticking to the health care field through covid.
