I took care of both of my parents. I love being around their wisdom. They think i'm funny and fun to be with. I would rather be around older people. Aways have since I was little. I am a 53 old grandmother to two beautiful 2 yr old girls. I am mother to a 10 yr old at home and her 5 grown siblings. I am married to my wonderful husband Ken. I love working with people. I love helping people and knowing that I am making someone elses life easier. I am a people person, I have lots of patience. I started working as a CNA when I was 20, I loved my job. I enjoy most about being a caregiver is that I'm needed and I make someone happy. I am proud of my children and how far they have come in life. My name Christina! Being a caregiver is something that I love an enjoy doing. What attracted me to become a caregiver is because being in the nursing field has been my life goal. So starting out as caregiver is where I started. I've had 5 years caregiving experience. I'm certified CPR/first aid also certified Level 1 medication aide.

I was a caregiver to a quadriplegic professor when I was in college to help pay for my tuition. After college, I continued doing private care on the side for some Alzheimer patients at a nursing home. In 2004, I enrolled at a nursing school for a year and a half. I did not finish my degree, but I did receive my certification as a CNA and as a Medication Technician. I keep up to date with the newest discoveries and findings in the world of medicine. Even though I have not had any new medical training, I am current on my knowledge of diseases, medications and side effects of such medications. For instance, I am aware that when you care for an Alzheimer's patient, you step into his/her world, and not insist that he/she conforms to your expectations of what is real. I am compassionate and capable. All of the kids are either all grown or almost grown, but I still have this vast need to nurture. My husband refuses to be smothered, so, I need to go out of the house and find someone else who would appreciate being cared for :-) My kids are my biggest accomplishment. The eldest is going to medical school this summer, and the middle one is attending UMKC in August. The youngest one is doing great as a Sophomore while giving out just enough sass to maintain her teenage status.

I am a 41 year old female. I have 4 children. My youngest was born in 2002 and was my inspiration for becoming a caregiver. He was born with a couple of syndromes and lots of medical challenges. This I became very good at taking care of him. Was a natural caretaker when I was growing up as I was told from family members and friends. This situation made me want to become a professional caregiver and has allowed me to be able to see some of the most common medical equipment and machinery that is used these days. It has tought me a lot.
