I cared for one of my great grandmother until she passed away in 2015-she was 87. I also helped and cared for my other great grandmother who passed away in December of 2018. She had Alzheimer's and was in a nursing home but I spent a lot of time there brushing her hair, talking to her, making her laugh and smile, feeding her, and helping with her grooming and anything she needed. I am originally from New York and am of Italian descent. I am married to a retired U. S. Navy man and therefore have some basic knowledge and appreciation of the military. I have been in the healthcare field for the last 21 years and switched over to Home Health in 2005. I really enjoy helping people with their health needs, especially those who cannot do for themselves, such as the disabled or elderly. Most of my patients have been the elderly suffering from dementia or Alzheimers. However, I have also cared for a couple of centenarians who simply needed companionship and occasional errands done for them. I am a very friendly and outgoing person who is also very neat and clean.

What makes me a great caregiver is because this is my God given Gift to care for His love ones. We each have a Gift that God has given us before we were born, and mines is to be able to care for the Elderly. At the end of the day, I get to go home knowing that I was given an opportunity, and the challenge and the blessing of being able to care for the Elderly. I think that's why I was put on this earth, and I think its' my calling like I said earlier in this statement. This is my purpose in life, and I am fulfilled by doing so. Below is a prayer I wrote.
Our father, as I enter into the Homes of your love ones, I bring your presence with me. I speak your Peace, your Grace, your Mercy and your Perfect Order as I, the caregiver do your will. I acknowledge your power over all that will be spoken, though, decided, and done within these walls.
Lord, I thank you for the Gifts that you have blessed me with. I commit to using them responsibly in your Honor. Give me a fresh supply of strength to do your will. Anoint my projects, and ideas, so that even my smallest accomplishment may bring you Glory.
Our Heavenly Father, when I as your Servant am confused; guide, and lead me. When I am burned out, infuse me with the Light of the Holy Spirit. May the work that I do, and the way that I do it, bring Faith, Joy, and a Smile to all of your love ones that I come in contact with each and every day.
Thank you Heavenly Father for given me, the Caregiver an opportunity, and the challenge, and the Blessings of being able to care for, and to help your love ones, the ELDERLY.
In Jesus name, I pray,
AMEN
So you see, this is who I am, and my Character, and who God created me to be!
Thank you!
I am a great caregiver because I am pationate about helping others with daily life task caring for some one comes natural to me. When I work with people I always have them tell me that I'm special and that they look forward to seeing me when I'm at work I make their day and they make my day. I am really proud of myself with completing the spots in people's lives that can't be filled by some people.
I started taking care of the elderly when I was 17 and I am now 45. I have worked in the medical field my whole life. It is all I want to do. I love to take care of other people. Over the last 28 years I have dealt with many types of people and have never met a stranger or a problem that I could not deal with. I am a Certified Medication Aide as well as a Certified Nurse Aide. They say when you love what you do at work that you never really worked at all. That is me.
I see myself as a friendly person, who genuinely cares about others. I am usually quick to gauge the setting and come up with a good "Icebreaker". In those instances where I'm not sure about others, I'm shy and reserved until I determine my opening. I've held many jobs in my life. I hadn't found lasting personal satisfaction in any ;until I found myself talked into sitting with a 90 year old "country woman" and my journey began. I come from a prime example of honor and love in caring for others. My Mother has spent her entire life, since 5 yrs. old making a difference to someone in need. In no way had I ever seen, entertained or aspired to work in a nursing home, or with an elderly/disabled/hospice patient . It came about as my own road became narrower. I'd like to think I've found my purpose in working with those who can't do it all on their own. It is my goal to impart to each of those I've worked with that it is my Priveledge to be of service to them . I have a very simple code that I work and try to live my life by.
That is : "Always Leave Someone The Way You'd Want to Be Left. " And, "Always Leave Something Better Than You Found It."
I am a 35 year old mom of two kids. I they are my world and do what I have to do for them to have a good life which entails that I work a lot! I love helping people and love making a difference in someone's life. To be able to her someone that is struggling, and making a small difference in someone's life or just making them as comfortable as possible, is what makes my life fulfilled and complete. I'm in the process as well on working into going back to school to further my experiences and striving to become the "better me". I would love the chance to work with you or your family and to make a difference if possible
I have always been a giver, but the choice to become a caregiver wasn't just a decision BUT A CALLING!! I have dealt with many different situations as a caregiver and the reward is amazing.
