Hello my name is Kendra Johnson I have been a Certified Nursing Assistance for 16 years I have worked in different settings nursing home,hospice care, hospital, home care in more. I have a passion at what I do I love it .

I was too young to remember the story but my aunt says when I was 4 years old, that I comforted and reassured her when she was crying over a breakup with her boyfriend. I believe this was the beginning of my journey to care for others. I majored in Social Work and have had a wonderful 27 year career of working with children, adolescents and the aging. I have worked at UVA hospital where I gained insight into the importance of maintaining good health and how devastating a disease or accident is on one's health and life. I have worked for department of social services and assisted the aging with receiving the services needed to remain in their home or to move into a facility. At this time, I am doing "hands on" care in people's home to assist them with various activities of daily living. My mother was bedridden for many years and I was one of her primary caregivers. I know the burden on family when caring for a loved one and the importance of support. My grandfather lived to be 96 and I was there for him to assist with shopping, meal prep, housekeeping, medication reminders and transportation. I cherish the times that I spent with my mother and grandfather caring for them. I also cherish the support I received from others.

I have 20 plus years in the medical field primarily in patient care and really have enjoyed helping and working in my community . I strive to provide the best care possible for my clients and treat everyone with dignity and respect. This is my work but also my passion.

Caring for others has been a lifelong passion of mine! I'm happiest when helping others, so I find this field of work very rewarding in many ways. I grew up watching my mother learn and be a great nurse so she is definitely my inspiration. What I enjoy most is definitely just making a difference, being able to be there and insert patience and understanding in a situation of discomfort. Many don't understand how hard it can be to accept help when you have always helped others yourself, that's the role of a caregiver.

I treat the patients as if it was my family. I love to sit and listen to stories that they have to tell about back when they were growing up. If you sit and listen to the elderly they can teach you a lot of stuff. I enjoy spending time with them. If they like to listen to music I will put that on for them. If they would like to go outside then I will be more than happy to keep them active.

Things that makes me a great caregiver/nurse assistance is my positive personality and behavior to my clients. I love to sing, reading Bible, and learning new things. I am a singer and good listener. A heart of loving, caring, listening, compassion, and confident in my work make me an attracted person to be a caregiver. I am proud of having a heart of helping other in need of my aid. I am proud of having a gift singing, and caring for people. I once had to care for my grandmother who was blind and needed personal care. I have worked with residents in their homes and nursing homes. It is my pressure to make them happy and feel to live longer. I believe in caring because I am young, strong, and healthy to help seniors. I know my skills, talents, and traits make me a great caregiver. Hello ! My name is Kelsie Johnson , I've been a caregiver for 4 years. Ive always known I wanted to help people. I started off working with children ages 3-17 with autistic disorders, substance, mental and physical abuse ( Youth counselor). I then branched off into working with elderly adults. I would say I'm very attentive, dependable, supportive, patient & trustworthy. I enjoy seeing my clients and their families happy & knowing they can trust me to assist with any help.
