I was a caregiver for a 91 year old Japanese lady with dementia, for 27 months from March 2014 through June 2016. I lived with her in her house (just the two of us). When I became her live in caregiver in July 2014, she was 86 lbs, bedridden and a declared hospice. After just a few months of taking care of her, she gained weight (106 lbs) walked, not bedridden anymore and a "hospice graduate." Her family doctor was so amazed and said that if not for her dementia, she would have been in excellent health condition. She and her four children (they do not live with her) love me like their own family. I love her as my own mother, too. My lady has diabetes, too and I was able to control her sugar by proper diet. My eldest is a nutritionist by profession and I have learned a lot from her. I gave my lady daily a nutritious smoothie drink made of veggies, banana and papaya. She loved it and had developed the habit of drinking the healthy smoothie. I am not a caregiver by profession but my culture as a Filipino is all about respect and care for the elderly, thus, the caring part came out naturally. I was a retired professional who chose to serve and it paid off by the way the family treats me. I went to school to learn and acquire caregiving skills. I also passed the CNA state certification in Hawaii but unfortunately let it expire.
I'm passionate about helping the elderly enjoy life, even in the little things. With each of my clients, I shared my whole being to provide them with the best care filled with love and compassion. Helping those in need have always been a trait of mine. For as long as I remember, I have always put others first before me. Seeing the smiles and improved well being of those I help gives me happiness and fulfillment.I would love to care for your family member and to treat them like my own.
Hello I'm Karen Kay, I am CNA. I love being a caregiver because I love helping, taking care of seniors or whoever is in needs of my helps. I grow up with my grandparents that's is why I got a soft-hearted personality to elders.. My greatest achievement is that giving quality service to all my clients. I do have an adult foster home. I just need a part time or few days to work.
I feel good every time I see their smiles. I took care of my own grandfather when I was 19 , he was at the hospital and having no knowledge yet of how to properly care, my instinct and love help me do my part. I pursue this line of job to help me do more for them. I am not saying that I am a perfect caregiver, but understanding what they wants and needs helps a lot. That's quality of life. I got my CNA license in the State of Hawaii and have been working since 2014.

What makes me a great caregiver is that I do all my tasks that I supposed to do. I am a very loving and caring person. I treat my clients as my own family. I make sure that they are happy and comfortable where they are. I chose to be a caregiver because I know the feeling of being alone and not do things by myself. I see a lot of elders long for companion and just someone to be there. That's why I am here to help them with that. We grow old everyday and we get weaker, we need someone who can help us What I've noticed for the past 3 years while working is that elders are shy to ask family members to help them. Some get angry, no patience, or just can't deal with elders. Thats why they are more comfortable with their caregivers. As the days, months or even years goes by, caregivers and clients gets closer and more comfortable.
I choose to be a caregiver because I have always wanted to be able to make a difference in someone else life. It has always been my a pleasure to take care of the vulnerable. Hence, it is not a job, but an ardent passion, which necessitates being selfless and patient to render such service. I have been an experienced medical professional for the past 25 years, and healthcare has always been my calling.
Hi I'm Gally Grace, I am passionate when it comes to taking care to people who needs my help. I only had experience with my grandmother who had diabetes and other illness. I used to sleep next to her so I could monitor her especially when she gets up and pee to make sure she didn't fall or slip while walking. Two year ago she passed away. I care so much that attached myself so quickly.
I've been in nursing field for four years I become a nursing student, i interacted different groups of people in the hospital, different attitudes but I never give up to give the care what they need. I choose this field because I want to help to the people who are in need, give the fullest care they need. And I get my degree in nursing last April 2015 and I'm proud of it that I finished my studies. I also passed my State Licensure in CNA last November 10,2015.
I have been a nurse aide/ caregiver for over 10 years now and still currently working with private clients. I had worked with over 20 clients throughout my career most of them had past and some few been transferred in a care home or a facility. I used to have a care home for 10 years with my older sister. We recently gave up on the care home when our last patient for over 10 yrs past away last year. We stop the business since it took so much of our time. Experience on grooming, dressing and toileting, assistance with walking, transfers, turning and repositioning and the use of assistive devices, meal preparation, and feeding or assistance with feeding.
