Making a difference in people's lives has been a passion of mine. My family owned a Nursing Home/Home for the Aged for 36 years. This is were my passion for taken care of people was instilled in me. I worked as a caregiver, cook and handled recreation programs for our residents. Throughout the years I worked for Connecticut Hospice, The Alzheimer's Resource Center, and as a Private Caregiver for children and adults. I had the honor of caring for my Dad and both my Grandmother who all had Alzheimer's. There are many types of Dementia. Training and knowledge is important to understanding the needs of your love ones and clients you care for. This past December I completed training courses for The National Caregiver Certification Program, Understanding Alzheimer's and Dementia and 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's. These certification courses provided me with new ways to communicate with Dementia clients. I make sure the things that are most important to my client are done every shift. This is achieved by asking your priorities, then once they're completed if time allows I do my best to tackle the non-priorities. Compassionate, reliable, punctual, treating everyone with dignity and respect are values I live by.

What makes me a great caregiver is my innate emphasis on the virtue and value of empathy. I may be physically strong, however my emotional strength is probably even more immense. I am a resilient, courageous, sensitive, compassionate and kind, which attracts me to the work of being a caregiver. What I enjoy most about this work is that it is heart-based and that I get to actually connect with human beings on a true level, additionally those who have already had plenty of life experience. A personal achievement I am proud of is having become a licensed EMT, whether or not I've pursued it as a career. And also that I am knowledgeable and familiar with complex mental health situations. I have a desire to serve, however I believe that my service should come with a true purpose rather than personal gain, so I look forward to helping out those who can use truly use my assistance. It would sincerely be an honor to.

Because I don't have any chance to take care my grandma she was in Haiti but I was in USA, I decided to give tender loving care to elderly , I love want I'm doing , for experience in geniatric care. I've been in home care for 14+ years. I worked for Hospice for 6 years, Parkinsons, TBI, stroke, and developmental disabilities patients and etc. I love what I do because I treat all my clients like if they were my family and also the way I would like to be treated. What attract me to Homecare was when I was in high school I used to work in the nursing home. And I am proud of making my patient happy seeing a smile on a face. That makes me know that I am doing my job right.

Hello my name is Robin Berry. I am a very outgoing and sociable person. Especially when it comes to a client that really doesn't like to talk much or may not have much energy or excitement during their day. I learned sometimes a smile and a good joke is the best medication. I believe that's what makes me a great care giver besides the fact that I am well experienced in bed transfers to toilet/sitting device and or wheelchair as well as usage of the Hoyerlift for bedbound clients. Average weight with proper technique, I can lift up to 250 pounds. I also have a great rapor with dementia as well as alzheimer patients. I am aware of the urgency of structuring a reasonable schedule for them so they dont become antsy during sundowning. Keeping a close source of comforting solutions to calm their frustration. Such as a cellular device to contact a familiar voice or face call from a family member. I have been doing home care since I was 20 years old and I have work for maybe 5 to 6 agencies throughout the past 15 years of off and on again service throught New York City while being a mom of 2 beautiful children who are now all grown up. I always had a way of making people cheer up. I had one clients family that were so happy with my service she wrote a letter to the job to Express her satisfaction with my care for her mother. She said it was my calling from God. I don't want to exaggerate my story but I have been blessed with seeing happy faces, when i arrived in the morning, to a few clients home. With most of my cases. I am definitely grateful for keeping alot of my clients healthy, happy and safe. Especially with the new pandemic their lives are so much more fragile and I hope to assist with being apart of your families Health team to aide in your family members safe and healthy recovery and or companionship.
