I have ben a caregiver for 30 years i love it im a cna and its one of best the best things i have ever decided to do.

Hi, my name is Reese! I'm 17 years old and currently finishing out my last year of high school. I do the co-op program where I go to school and work every other day as a CNA. I work as a CNA at 2 places in Chillicothe. I love my job because i get to make a difference in someone's life every single day. I know everything you do matters in the residents point of view so I try to keep a positive attitude through everything. I love being able to make lasting impressions on the people I get to care for.

I am a sociable person with a natural capability of providing continuous care . Empathy is embedded in my personality, I am a good listener. Moreover, I have a track record of giving elderly and child care and immensely enjoy each moment. The primary task of caregiving is providing companionship. Also, a caregiver assists with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, toileting assistant, feeding and changing, housekeeping, and laundry.

It all Started when I was very young, I was 5 and Started To realize my mom's balance wasnt like the other kids mom's. It was just my mom and I, so I instinctively helped her as much as a 5 year old could. As I got older she got worse, and I could help more. That's exactly what I did. She ended up being misdiagnosed with polyneuropathy in the mid 90s. She got worse over the years, and eventually could not walk at all. In 2008-09 we found out she had a tumor growing all throughout her spinal cord. which was in fact the cause of why she was losing and eventually lost the ability to walk at all. She can't feel her legs and feet, or anything below the belly button. She ended up getting bed sores, so I change her wound dressings daily, and a nurse comes one day a week. She takes pictures of her progress. I have experienced with the wound vac, and right now we just use silver nitrate and barrier cream, and flip her on her sides for two hours. This is the second time she's had these sores so they won't ever heal fully. I used to get paid by seiu (doors) to be her caregiver but they cut her off for her assets. So I still take care of her and do everything the same 7 days a week any way. I am fully qualified, I run arrends, prepare meals, clean, so laundry, bathe her and just tend to her needs.

Have been taking care of my grandparents back in kenya thats where i got the experience of working with home care people and am hardworking ,dignity,honest ,christian and i love elderly and disabled people am trustful i work in order to achieve my goals

I became a great caregiver when I cared for my mom for 8yrs. I learned a great deal about personal care, and the doctors and nurses were so amazed at the care I had given her I was motivated to care for other in need. What attracted me to become a caregiver was after caring for my mom, I felt it was a calling. A personal achievement of my mine was caring for my mom and still today the care I give to others.
