I have been a CNA for 10 years, and have worked in all different situations in many different facilities. I aspire to go further with my nursing degree, and eventually, hopefully become an RN like my mom. I enjoy being a caregiver because it gives me a sense of purpose, I enjoy helping people. Many life lessons held dearest to my heart, came from the facility where I worked my first 2 years as a CNA. I currently work PRN for an agency based out of Indianapolis. Although I am through an agency, I have been steadily picking up at a facility in Franklin for over 5 years. I am searching for a PRN or part time option closer to home. Hello my name is Michelle Dayton. I have worked in home healthcare for close to 25 years. I have been State certified as a CNA in both Michigan and Indiana. I am not currently certified but I am a registered HHA. I get tremendous enjoyment of taking care of others. My healthcare career started as a volunteer for hospice after I lost my grandparents. I've seen what amazing work they did and how at peace my grandparents were when they passed and I chose to pay it forward. I am a little more picky on the people I take care of then other Aides for two reasons: 1. If the client and I seem to clash it's no good for anyone. So I will not waste your time or my own. I will just respectfully decline the offer. 2. The clients I take on will not be just a clients. I love my people like they're my own family and I will do my absolute best to meet every need they have. If I cannot accomplish that I will find someone who can and put you in touch with them, because there's no sense in your family members being unhappy and uncomfortable in their own home. I feel that I am very caring and compassionate with each and every client that I've had. I believe everyone deserves respect, kindness and a voice( your opinion matters to me!) I will never force your family members to do something they don't want to do. I feel they have live through several wars, a great depression and a whole lot of hardship in the past and now is their time to be pampered. If your family member needs anything or you have questions about anything if I can't answer them I will find the answers and if I have the answers I will let you know.

During my undergraduate career I worked in senior care (5 years), and while my current position is rewarding- I truly miss being a caregiver. Being a caregiver allows you to know individuals on a deep and intimate level while helping them and their families transition during a very challenging time. I have been a caregiver the past 6 years and I have grown to love caring for the elderly and thinking of them as my own family. I started out at 14 taking care of my grandfather and extended my health care experience from there. The thing I care about most when it comes to caring for my client is treating them as if it were one of my loved ones and getting the proper care they deserve! I love to see progress from my clients that's always one of my top priority when it comes to caring for someone. I am also CPR certified.

Caregiving is what I have done most of my life. In their passing, I provided care, compassion, and empathy for my father and mother in law, and my neighbors father. Being a caregiver is a blessing for me. Being able to be a part of their lives and support them through this difficult time is a great feeling. I'm the mother of 3 grown children, Nana to 6 beautiful grandkids, and married for 34 years to my childhood sweetheart. I've worked in education and nursing home environment. The most memorable moments in my life were spent with my granny growing up. She was always my best friend.
