I was 15 years old and just started my freshman year of high school when I was placed in a class called Intergenerational Studies. For 2 hours each day I was taken to the nursing home called Golden Years there in Elgin, Tx. I started off just getting residents from their rooms to come and do activities with me. But it wasn't long and I was working side by side with CNAs, RNs, and at one point the DON had me shadow her for 2 weeks. I just got really interested and a few years after graduation and having my son, I pursued a CNA certification and was assigned the hospice hall and the "lockdown unit" which was occupied by the more violent patients and those with conditions such as Alzheimer's and/or parkinson's, as well as those with behavioral health conditions. I honestly just fell in love with everything about caring for the elderly. Even the hard and very emotional side of the care I provide is something I wouldn't want to stop doing. I would love to get my CNA back but just haven't attempted to do so since my husband passed in 2011. Since my high school days I have worked with all ages of people, from a 2 year old little princess to a 98 year old gentleman I referred to as Fred Astaire due to them looking like twins. He loved it and would smile so big when I walked in every day; and every day he would say "Good morning Ms. Judy (Garland). You feel like dancing the day away?" It's things like that for which I love my work. Please feel free to ask anything, I would love to tell everything now but there is just so much I've been blessed to have experienced with so many different people I'd never be done.

Stay home mom/wife of 4 adult children and one 16 year old who doesn't need me hovering anymore. Near empty nest syndrome would love to spend time with someone who needs love, compassion and care. Have delivered hospice meds in the past and loved meeting and getting to know the patients. Great cook. Love to make people smile and listen to lessens that come with wisdom.

My past cant really fit into a box. I spend 8 years working as a humanitarian workersin Southa American and Mexico setting up rural health care clinics for indegenous children and seniors. It was such a great journey. I have only been back in the USA for 3 years. I see serving a a home health aide as a calling. I love my patients, just the way I love my own mom and dad and I treat them with respect that I would like to have shown to me. This is not just a job for me.

Hi my name is Raquel a little bit about me im honest, trustworthy dependable, and love helping people or animals. I have 1 daughter and a fiance i love animals i have 1 dog and 3cats. I've been a CNA for 12 years and worked in nursing homes majority of the time and have done home health on and and off. I enjoy home health way more because of the one on one time and getting to know the patient and their stories. I have experience with Alzheimer's/dementia and find that i can work really well with them. Some days are better than others and thats ok because theyre just as confused than they have ever been just trying to understand whats going on in that point of time. I also have experience with hoyer lifts, sit to stand lifts, and sliding boards. Have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask.

I'm great at what I do because I'm extremely patient and have a sense of humor. I understand the importance of taking my time and taking care of people as if they were my own family. I enjoy helping others and can only hope that when it's my time, some one cares for me the way that I have cared for my patients in the past.
