I am a very compassionate and patient caregiver with 17 years of experience helping to care for individuals with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. The bond that I build with all of my clients is unmistakably genuine and sweet. Over my career I have cared for 15 different people and each one of them and the experiences that we have shared has helped to enrich my ability to care for the next one. My name is Kathrina, but friends and family call me Lina. I'm 24 years old but I I have a lot of experience with caregiving. My personality traits that I believe make me an excellent caregiver are; I'm empathetic and compassionate, which I believe helps me to connect with my patients more which therefore makes the patient more comfortable with having help from someone who essentially starts off as a stranger. I also consider myself to be very positive and enthusiastic which is good in any environment. What initially attracted me to caregiving was seeing my mom do it as her profession. The joy she gets from being able to help those in need and to build real bonds with the patient and their families is something you can't get in many other professions these days. What I enjoy most about caregiving is ending everyday knowing that I helped someone in need. The personal achievement I am most proud of is the annual food and clothing giveaway I started this year with my siblings aimed to help the underserved in our communities.
I am a good listener, I also like to engage in conversation, I am very punctual. I like to hear peoples stories and look at family photos (past, present and future). I am patient and have a kind and loving heart. I like to advocate on behalf of my client when I see a need too; allowing space and time to build a healthy relationship and a bond of trustworthiness.. What attracted me to this work are those family members and loved one's whom I love dearly, faced with their own mental, emotional, physical and psychological challenges. Being able to lend my support to them in one way or another I found to be very fulfilling. I have always found a pleasant sense of joy in the ability of giving back to others who are in need of my services.. There are many hurdles one must strive to overcome in this game of life no one is exempt. I can honestly say that I have learned many lessons, and in the process received just as many blessings. From a place of love and kindness I can give to others.. That's what care giving is suppose to do, give love to life...

I became a Caregiver for my Mother when she was ill. It was about ten years I cared for her. I like assisting people that are in need of having a better quality of living and be most comfortable. I get great satisfaction when I can care for someone that deserves better quality of living and care. I decided to get my Nurses Assist and Home Health Aide certification to do my job better. In the past I worked as a Pharmacy Technician and took Healthcare courses to better myself. I enjoy helping other people and learning of whatever it is.
Being a caregiver for 17 + years is such an honor and has helped me in so many ways. It's all about putting away my needs to assist others. I love what I do in helping each client I've ever worked with and knowing what I did brought them joy and happiness is priceless. I am very patience, compassions, attentiveness, dependability and trustworthiness. The moments when you reflect back and see how you have helped someone is what CAREGIVING is all about!!
