I have 20 plus years of experience in the healthcare industry. When I was in my teens, my grandmother was diagnosed with terminal Cancer and was bound to a wheelchair. I moved in with her to care for her needs. I enjoyed being able to give her comfort. I administered her B-12 injections and her daily medicine, while cooking, cleaning and bathing her.
I realized then, that I wanted to become a nurse. I did not have any backing to go to nursing school, so I attained my Registered Medical Assistant and my Registered Phlebotomist licenses.
One of my personal achievements was when I took care of a patient who was a paraplegic. I taught her how to use the remote with 2 fingers. She was so ecstatic when she finally was able to do that one thing by herself. It was truly amazing!
