My passion is working with the geriatric population, specifically Alzheimer's care. I am in nursing school at Salve Regina University and I will graduate May 2019. I live off campus in downtown Newport RI during the school year (September-May). Feel free to contact me with any questions, text or call me at 603-531-1219.
The personality traits that help me to be a great caregiver are patience, compassion, alertness, dependability and thrustworthness.I was attracted to caregiving because ater taking care of my grandmother at a young age,and watching her enjoy the last days snd the peace she had just made me to persue my caregiving job,and extend it to the community.I'm proud of the fact that i can take care of my clients who wish to spend their life in their home enviroment, instead of institutions.I like my job.
Ever since freshman year in high school, I have always wanted to do something that related to the medical field. First it was orthopedics and then pharmacy. I did not know that my mind would change to care giver until my junior year. I took a health science technology class starting my junior year. It was a two year class. Junior year was more focused on anatomy and physiology and Senior year we got to decide which path we wanted to go down. I chose the LNA path. I have always wanted to help people and going towards this path seemed like a sure-fire way to get there. I loved doing my clinicals at the two nursing homes near my school. It was an amazing experience. Knowing that I can help someone get through their day a little easier meant the world to me. Almost six years after graduating high school, I am still doing what I love and taking care of the people that need it the most.
I have been a caregiver for my whole career, starting fresh out of high school. I was very close with my grandmother, her parents, and my great-great grandmother which is why I believe I am a compassionate and diligent caregiver. I treat each member as I do my own family. I have been told by my residents that I am patient and attentive, and I strive to do my best by each of them. I chose this work because it fulfills my need to help others and to create strong bonds.
I have worked in the health care field for 28 years. I am kind, patient, understanding, compassionate, I have an ability to read people very well. It makes it much easier to assist people that may have difficulty expressing themselves. I am CNA,HHA, Medication, and Hospice certified.
I am deeply committed to treating all of my clients and families with dignity and respect. My goal is to win the trust , and help alleviate any embarrassment or anxiety when needing assistance with bathing, toileting, grooming, or other personal care. I strive to make a difference in the lives of my clients. I am very out going, friendly, honest , and dependable.
Becoming a Caregiver was out of necessity, to fulfill one woman's simple request of not being placed into a nursing home. She had had a challenging childhood: daily nourishment often was tea and bread; coats were used as blankets during the evening. She persevered during her marriage, raising a brood of children while being the dutiful wife. So, when called upon, it was an opportunity to give back. I have found that I have great resolve, have not floundered in my integrity, and have given care with compassion and kindness. In doing so, I have been greatly rewarded.
I am a calm, humble, hispanic woman. I love being a HHA because I like helping elderly with things they cant do. My grandmother is also a elderly sick person and i am the person that does everthing for her. I am the kind of person that loves to be smiling and communicating with people
I am an extremely patient, and caring individual. I have always wanted to work in the health care field since I was a kid. I truly enjoy helping other people, and being able to make a difference in their lives. I always put myself in their shoes, so I can try to see how they feel in certain situations. I take care of my clients the way I would want someone else to take care of my family members. I love being able to take clients out of the house, even if it's just for a short walk or drive around town. I feel it's important for them to keep their independence for as long as they can. I can't imagine doing anything else for a career. I take my job seriously, but have a fun, bubbly, outgoing personality.
I first started caregiving when I was 17. My first job was for glorias helping hands. At first i wasnt sure about how i felt about the type of work. I didnt have much experience as to what i was doing. I took some classes and got my rcs1 and crma first. Rcs1 is a residential care specialist and a CRMA is a certified residential medical assistant. As i learned more and worked more I realized that is was my passion to help others who may need some assistance in things they can no longer do. Honestly u really do have to have a passion for this type of work because u never know what could happen or what situation u may end up in. And some of the disabilities, and some health issues can be challenging. Ive been very lucky to continue and have worked and learned various disabilities, as well as illnesses. Today i have my rcs1, pss, cna, and also insulin certified, cpr certified, and first aid certified. I love knowing that I'm making a difference and im helping and am there for someone who needs some support and help in their life.
