I am a loving kind hearted caregiver. I've been working with the elderly doing home health aid for 15 plus years. I've worked with many agencies before and I am a certified HHA. I love talking with the elderly and just getting to know them some are very wise. My personal achievement is after my big move from Brooklyn I still managed to work for a amazing agency doing what I love.
I'm a great care giver because I'll always make sure every need is meant. I'm very compassionate, loving, caring person. I love interacting with my residents, doing fun activities, going for walks or just having conversations. What I attracted me to caregiving is being able to help as much as I can in the living situations of my residents, it makes me happy knowing I can help in making their lives easier and better. The best achievement I've very happy about is following the career I've always wanted by enrolling into college and becoming more then just a cna.
I worked as an LPN until October 2016 when I was diagnosed to breast cancer. Making life changes I decided to step back from the high paced employment I was working in at the time and step into a more relaxed role of health care, allowing me to continue with a more direct care role with my patients (or clients). Much like my role as a hospice nurse. I enjoyed this level of care during my time there. I prefer not to be beholden to the demands of "productivity markers" so prevalent in health care today and be able to focus more on the time and care of a person. I am a caring, knowledgeable, respectful person and I enjoy what I do.
I chose to become a caregiver because I needed a job and I watched my mom do for 18yrs so thats part of the reason I became a caregiver. I've been a caregiver for 4yrs, the most rewarding part about this job is the relationships you develop with the clients you care for. The clients I've worked with over the years have taught me helped me to develop more patience, compassion and being more openminded. This feild of work is rewarding in so many ways besides making good money. You develop and posses a lot of good characteristics traits and long lasting relationships and a friendship with some of the clients you work with. In the end its well worth it.
I became a caregiver because I took care of my grandmother before she passed away I enjoy working with elderly people I am a very caring person I also run an organization for homeless families so my heart is definitely there when it comes to people in need whether they are rich or poor.

I am an experienced, quiet, caring Christian man who loves helping people, and learning from others as they share their life's knowledge with me. Seniors usually like to tell me their stories, and I then apply their wisdom to how I live my own life. I have worked at many kinds of jobs, but most enjoyed the 4 years that I was employed as a full-time/live-in caregiver to elderly folks. I am from a very different background, growing up in a tribal African village, married to a white American doctor who encourages me to work in a field that I excel in. I am very adaptable.
My name is Akeirah. I have been working in the caregiving field for over 5 years now and honestly it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I absolutely love what I do. I love being able to assist and make a difference in people's live. I am outgoing, friendly and I love meeting new people. Building a relationship with the individuals I care for is one of the most important things to me. I have built a bonds with some individuals that don't generally take well to new staff which is an accomplishment to me because it makes me proud that they know they can confide and rely on me. I am very reliable and take my work very seriously. I am always willing to pick up shifts and help out the best way I can.
I have more than 10 years experience working (full time) with individuals with developmental disabilities. In group, private residential, community and classroom settings. Also in transportation. I have been told that my compassion towards them is extremely apparent. I am there for the individuals 100%. For their health and well being but also for quality of life. I also believe that promoting as much independence as one can have. When I have worked one to one or in someone's home that was where I felt I could make the most difference. I have worked in medically intensive houses as well as behavior intensive. I also worked for NYSOPWDD and am required to pass an extensive background check, which I have. I absolutely love what I do and have never been told anything other than I do it well. My heart is full when I'm caring for people. I get out of it what I put into it, if not more so. If I can make someone in my care smile, laugh or feel comfort I feel like my day was a successful one!
