One of the best qualities that I have as a caregiver is a sense of empathy. Whether I'm caring for a small child in a daycare or helping an elderly person recover from surgery, a sense of personal understanding and connection is vital. I understand the elderly may feel vulnerable, scared, confused and uncomfortable, and being able to identify and allay those fears can create a sense of calm and trust for those that I care for. Patience is also vital to the role of caregiver, I'm able to separate myself from potential anger and resentment and not take the situation personally, all while still providing high-quality care services. I can keep calm and soothe them in their time of distress or anxiety and being a a voice of encouragement. I'm reliable because I know that they depend on us and often feel a sense of personal attachment. I'm continually on time, particularly if administering food or medical care. The job of a caregiver is challenging yet rewarding. I do this because I am following a dream of helping others. Providing care to people, who cannot look after themselves, while maintaining their dignity, is an accomplishment in itself. I thrive helping people who cannot help themselves.

My personal achievement is making someone day worth looking forward to the next day.Having a client who didn't talk much all of a sudden become a talker. I am 43 years old. I have been working in the caregiver field working with adults and children over 10 years. Ensuring the patient's highest level of well being at all times while under your care Assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) -- hygiene, dressing, eating, etc. Light housekeeping such as changing linens, laundry, dusting, vacuuming and taking out garbage Planning and/or preparing meals Running errands and transporting patients to appointments, etc. Monitoring vital signs Assisting with medication reminders, dispensation and documenting their use when updating health charts. Helping patients participate in moderate or light exercise as recommended by their physician Promoting mental engagement through companionship, brain games or memory books Keeping daily care notes to inform families, agencies and medical providers of any significant changes in behavior or condition.
I am a very friendly, loving, dedicated, loyal and caring individual. I am one to treat one's family member as if they're apart of my family. What attracted me to become a caregiver is when I started helping my Grandma as a younger girl with the elderly in nursing homes. The thing I enjoy most about being a caregiver is showing my client that they matter and making sure they feel comfortable and listening to their life stories etc. A personal achievement I am proud of, would be ... making my last client feel comfortable, and literally being there for her until her last breath.
