Caregiving is I think an honor to help individuals get a better quality of life being at home in their own homes. What I like about being a caregiver is being able to show a client how being at home can be fun, enjoyable and mostly safe for them. I am most proud of myself for a few reasons. Losing an excessive amount of weight. After a loss of a child I gained a large amount of weight and when I had my son, I was larger than life. But as years went by I needed to start taking care of myself. Have lost over 583 lbs in 33 years. Also achieving getting back up on my own raised my son and became a Licensed Nurse's Assistant with home care and nursing homes. Did many kinds of employment but always came back to nursing. I've worked with the elderly for about eight years.When my father was admitted to a nursing home and I witnessed how he was cared for I developed a passion to try and make a difference working with the elderly to give them better care. I worked three years as an activities assistant with dementia and loved it,I have also worked as an LNA in a memory care unit. I have had special training with alzheimers/dementia care.
