I started helping my grandma administer her diabetes shots and prepare meals when I was in elementary school. I later helped a neighbor with similar needs, I would stop by her house on my way home from school-I ended up working for her for seven years, until she needed a 24 hour care facility . I learned so much from women like them, caretaking has always been my way of showing respect. Besides giving brings the greater happiness. Hi everyone! My name is Brittany. I'm 21 years old, and I've been caregiving for about 4 years now. I began working in the care field when my grandma required help after a fall that broke her hip. I moved in with her, assisting with all ADLs. During this time, I also began caregiving for a paraplegic man at night and on the weekends. Eventually I moved in with him so I could be of assistance at all times of the day. When this job ended for me, I began working my first facility caregiving job at The Beehive. My favorite part of being a caregiver is bonding with my residents and doing everything in my power to make their day great. I'm often complimented on my even temper and patience. I always treat my residents with respect and I feel that I am respected more by them because of it.

I love helping people. My relatively short experience with Benco in Corvallis prepared me with extensive training and certifications providing direct support for intellectually and developmentally handicapped clients. I served in a facility where clients were not ambulatory, and unable to feed or bathe themselves. We were dedicated to providing the best care and daily experiences for our clients. It is very fulfilling to know that in spite of any physical or intellectual limitations, our clients enjoyed outdoor adventures, daily walks around the neighborhood, music and book reading time, excellent personal hygiene, and frequent interaction with staff who truly cared about them.
