My name is Rosalind L. Tone'y-Nikiema I'm 54 years old. I'm a Christian woman, I believe in being fair with everyone, I'm open minded, I'm a team player and willing to do the job your way, I'm flexable and I'm dependable. I'm not an CNA but I can do the same work that they do. I'm looking forward when the day comes that I can go back to school and get my CNA license. I enjoy being around special need adult, children and teens. I enjoy being around the elderly for the simple fact that they need companionship also. Some people think that because they either have disabilities or they grow old they don't know what's going on but that's not true they do. I would remind him to take his meds, take him to his doctors appointments, on outings, I'd so lite housekeeping. At the end of my shift I'd do my paper work for the day.

I was hired to come in and take care of my client after his wife died. His granddaughter hired me to work for her/him because he needed care 24/7. I worked four (4) days on and I had three (3) days off. We would get up in the mornings and I'd help my client get ready for the day by helping him bathe/dress, we would cook his breakfast and lunch and in the evenining I would prepare his dinner. We would go to his doctors appointments, shopping, take care of his bills, go to the movies, go to church and where he wanted to go. I would do the housekeeping and most of all we would sit around and watch the game on t.v. and he would tell me his stories of when he was in the service, how he met his wife and we would read the bible to geather. I worked for him til he passed away from cancer.

I have been a caregiver for over 30 years and enjoy working with people and being part of their lives. I ran a retirement home as an assisted-living director and ran the dining room and started the Alzheimer's unit. I have been working with home health agencies and also at facilities and enjoy doing activities with the residence and seeing people smiling and laughing because most of them do not have families that come and visit them so basically we are their family. I enjoy being a caregiver and being in their homes because then you get to be one on one with them which makes caregiving more personable and it's a blessing that most of them can stay in their homes. Being a caregiver is not a talent or something that you can be trained on it's mostly what's in your heart and knowing that the elderly need good people to take care of them and One day we are going to be in the position where we will need someone to take care of us so knowing that there are good caregivers out there it just makes it easier on the family to take care of their loved one.
