About Rosalind

I became a caregiver because when I was 12 years old my cousin got hit by a car and he was (back then in the 70's) was brain damaged and called retarded. So because his mom worked his siblings (my cousins) and my siblings use to take care of him. I enjoyed taking care of my cousin and making sure he had everything he needed and watching a smile come upon his face everytime we did something to make him happy within himself. What I like about being a caregiver is seeing the smiles on my clients faces after having an awesome great day or seeing them do something that they didn't think they could do. Also knowing my worth and input that I had in putting that smile on there face. A personal achievement I am proud of is being able to help others who are in need of help and watching them grow in their environment to be able to be independent and happy. I am a very passionate person and I get great joy out of pleasing others and watching them smile. I'm a people's person, quick learner, flexible, friendly, outgoing, team player, willing to learn new techniques, dependable and punctual. I am willing and able to be caregiver for others so that they may enjoy life for themself and not feel like they are a burden to others. I enjoy everything that I do in this field of home healthcare.

I did everything for my client (he had cancer) we go to football/basketball games, we'd go to church, I'd bathe him, cook for him, etc. we'd watch the games on t.v., go shopping, go to the movies, I'd take him to visit with his friends. I was to get to the terminal get my route assignment. I would go pick up my students drop them off at school. Sometimes while waiting to pick up my students from school and take them back home I would also take field trip assignments. I had to do my paper work for each trip I took for that day. Check my but and make sure it was in running condition. After picking my students up and taking them back home. I had to check my bus and the end of the routes and make sure that I didn't have any students on the bus. Sometimes I'd also do after school routes for those students who had activities after school.

I have been a caregiver for over 30 years and enjoy working with people and being part of their lives. I ran a retirement home as an assisted-living director and ran the dining room and started the Alzheimer's unit. I have been working with home health agencies and also at facilities and enjoy doing activities with the residence and seeing people smiling and laughing because most of them do not have families that come and visit them so basically we are their family. I enjoy being a caregiver and being in their homes because then you get to be one on one with them which makes caregiving more personable and it's a blessing that most of them can stay in their homes. Being a caregiver is not a talent or something that you can be trained on it's mostly what's in your heart and knowing that the elderly need good people to take care of them and One day we are going to be in the position where we will need someone to take care of us so knowing that there are good caregivers out there it just makes it easier on the family to take care of their loved one.
