I am a natural caregiver as the parent of a profoundly disabled, non-ambulatory, non-verbal child. I have experience doing all types of related tasks such as positioning, bathing, transfers, therapy assistance, g-tube feedings, pulmonary therapies, and schedule management. And I do so with a good attitude and plenty of patience. I can relate to the challenges that come with aging, disability, neurological conditions, and metabolic illness. I have an extensive knowledge of the human body as a martial artist and massage therapist. I am excited by specialized diets such as very low carb/ketogenic and have been practicing medicalized and blended diets for over 7 years. Within my personal life, I believe in all natural, spotlessly clean environments, and know that organization is key to keeping life running smoothly. I am punctual and reliable. I have always viewed life's challenges as opportunities for growth. Helping troubleshoot the issues that come with disabled life, hacks and assist others in recapturing a sense of normalcy is what makes me most happy.

1.) What makes me a great caregiver? First, I have empathy & compassion working with client in a home care setting. I feel the desire to want to help. Knowing the care about the client & want to do what they can to help them. Secondly, full of patience & understanding. Third, reliable & dependable, can be counted on. Fourth, trustworthy, working & giving care 24/7 or being invited to be in their home, near to their valuables & being trusted to keep client's information confidential. Fifth, flexible. Unexpected events can happen, always prepared to go with the flow, be able to continue to provide good home care, even if a rigid schedule isn't being followed. 2.) Why did I become a caregiver? Since in my very young age I have always been interested in spending time with older people. I love to help & make people smile. I completed my Graduate in Nursing course in 1976 & Post Graduated in Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1978 & had my Masters in 2007. It was at that point that I realized that caring for people, especially the elderly was my calling. 3.) What is my personal achievement that I am proud of? Hi My name is Emica Dumesle-Henry. When I first started home care, I was taking care of my mom. I am caring by nature. I know how important it is to find good help to take care of loves ones. I have been in home health care for well over 6 year. My mom had a lot of health issues I had to deal with. She was blind, she had renal failure, she has asthma, she high blood pressure, and diabetes, she was required to have oxygen. I took good care of my mom until she died this year because her health got the best of her. I use to go to every doctors appointments with. Back in 2011 at one particular appointment the case workers ask did I have any one coming out to help her, ie home care provider, I said no I do every thing. She then gave me a card and told me I can get paid for the things I was already doing, the rest is history. During the time I did home care for my mom, I received a lot of training and certificate form DHS DORS, Bed making, problem solving, working with depress clients, and many more related certificates. What I enjoy the most by doing home health care is seeing the joy you bring to people who really needs your help. My most proud accomplishment was when I use to hear my mom tell everyone she knew how I take good care of her. That use to make me feel like I am doing something right.
