Since I can remember, I have enjoyed helping people. to me it's very rewarding. I started 1971 when I was a junior. I began as a candystriper for 6 months, then as a cna for a year and one half. In 1996-1997 I was a psych=social aide. One personal achievement I'm proud of is when my supervisor, after having 2 other psych-social aides attempt to persuade a resident to leave his room, and interact with others, asked me to try. within 15 minutes the resident and I were on our way to the activity room to play the piano. I like to talk, but I also like to listen, very important. The main thing is to let peopl e know you sincerely care. I've done cna work for over two years, psych-social aide little over a year and home health about one and a half years. I'm old fashioned. I did step away from working for many years to raise a family but have been back doing what I love to do , for a couple years now. I must say, I did have to go back to school after 40 years to become certified, which wasn't needed years ago . Thank you, I hope to be taking care of someone soon. ... more
