I believe what makes me a great caregiver is putting the patient number one at all times. I believe the caregiver must show patience’s, good quality of work, be dependable, and have great communication about the patient's care among the family. The reason I became a caregiver is because I acknowledge the care a person needs to be given when they are not able to take care of themselves with passion and compassion. One motivation that inspires me to be a caregiver is give the patient the ability to smile again with the nurturing care you can provide and anticipate their needs. A personal achievement I’m proud with being a caregiver over these past 8 years making the patient feel happy in a daily basis with the great care you provided and going home with a good feeling.
I am currently 27 years old, mother of two. I have been a home care aid and personal assistant for the last 3years. The reason I became a caregiver was due to the fact when I was 7mths pregnant with my oldest child my mother had a stroke that effect her short &long term memory and was in much needed help at home with her daily need due to the fact my mother has difficulty remind certain things like she did years ago; I felt she needed someone to help but since she didn't like stranger in the home I became a caregiver to show her caregiver aren't just stranger they can become part of your family as well. I am very familiar with all house cleaning, washing clothes, assisting with elderly needs, washing dishes, organizing furniture, running errands, cooking (basics), assist with bathing. I currently have desired work schedule of which would consist of Monday to Friday 9-3pm; Friday 6-12am, Saturday 7am-9pm, Sunday 7am-5 p.m. due to kids being in school. I am mostly flexible with any job description except for transportation which at the moment don't have a vehicle.
