My first experience with caregiving was with my own grandmother. She had a strong desire to stay in the home she loved, but could no longer take care of herself. I assisted her with medication, dressing, toileting, meals, and cleaning. Right before her passing I earned my CNA certificate. My certification has since lapsed (but the knowledge and experience remain), as I chose to pursue another passion of mine, cooking. I have held lead cook positions at two different skilled nursing facilities in the area, and am certified by the state of Illinois in safe food handling practices. When I care for so meone, I consider them to become a part of my family, and provide the kind of care that I hope to receive in the future. I have my own reliable transportation.
