I have been a caregiver for over 2 years now. I got my nurse assistant certificate from Triton in 2013. I have worked for a couple home care agencies with numerous clients. I've had the pleasure of working with permanent clients and their family's which I've enjoyed. I'm very compassionate, kind, patient, and reliable. I have dementia/alzheimers experience as well.
I became a caregiver because I enjoy helping people. What I like about being a caregiver is that I can make a difference in a clients life with just helping them by making life and living better. A personal achievement I am proud of is getting my chha license because with it and the experience that comes with it I can help people heal in any condition they are in. I am very loving and caring, I love laughter and enjoy making others laugh. I enjoy cooking, reading, and having intellectual conversations. I am a very honorable and trustworthy person. I am also very dependable. I love people and I keep unity.
I am a compassionate, skilled worker who can work long hours and accomplish several tasks at once. I was brought on into caregiving because of my brother John, who is quadriplegic, and a handful when he knew I would be around. I learned a lot through specific classes, yet also a lot just by him instructing me. I enjoy my work because it is a passion of mine to give great service to those who cant, but also I've seen what bad or mediocre service can do in the long run. A personal achievement of mine, that I am proud of, was spending a year and 6 months in Biloxi, MS helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
What makes me a great caregiver is my ability to quickly learn the care needs of an individual. Assuring them that I will take care of all their needs in a timely manner without any reminders. Also I'm a very patience and loving person. I noticed I had this special gift of taking care of other when my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Every weekend my sister and I helped take care of our very ill grandmother. I enjoyed helping my grandmother with all her needs because I knew I was giving her care that she wasn't able to give herself. My Grandmother was very relieved that she could depend on us to help her through the day. I was very proud that I was able to take away some of my grandmothers stress of being ill. The best part of being a caregiver is watching a individual gain some or most of their ability to perform their own ADL. Also giving a individual joy through my care. My most personal achievement that I'm proud of is to have worked in this field for ten years and still have the level of love, joy and patience I had when I first took care my Grandmother.
