I am a Medical Technician in the United States Air Force (National Guard) and have finished extensive training done in military hospitals. In military hospitals most patients are veterans or a spouse of a veteran. Therefore, most of our tasks were geriatric related. Through this I have been able to become more patient and knowledgable about geriatric needs. The thing that attracted me about being a caregiver is the one on one work relationship. I am attending IUPUI in the fall of 2018 and have classes Monday- Friday morning. With that said, I am looking for a NIGHT job. A personal achievement I am proud of is being one of the top in my class during my medical training. It has encouraged me to pursue my dreams of going to medical school and becoming a trauma surgeon.
Caregivers that work non-full-time jobs or irregular shifts can negotiate extra compensation in addition to their standard hourly wage.
