Being a caregiver fulfills me due to my naturally caring nature to want to help others. I took care of my grandfather who was in a wheelchair for the last 20 years of his life. My grandfather needed assistance cleaning and grocery shopping. What was more important than anything was..just sitting with him and talking to him and listening. When I wasn't running errands or taking him to his doctors appointments, we would get his favorite food and just watch a movie. Caregiving is awesome and family needs to feel happy and secure their loved one is being well taken care of at all times!

I am a highly experienced Certified Nursing Assistant and Geriatric Nursing Assistant with a focus on caring and quality of life. In addition to my focus on caring for the physical needs, I work to make the quality of life as rich as possible. I believe in a proactive approach, engaging the client even when there is nothing that requires attention. Caregiving is a natural for me. I came from a very large family and experienced caregiving early. My early showing of the caring tendencies let my siblings to call me "Mom," even as a small child. I love my clients like they are part of the family. Like family members, I want them to have the best care plus the best quality of life. The skills from formal training and certification and the experiences I have had allow me to give the quality healthcare and quality of life enhancement. My personality, which is positive with a large dose of laughing, is an important part of improving the quality of life of a client. I find being able to improve the health and quality of life very satisfying. If I can help the client have fun, that is the best. I had one client, who was an Alzheimer's patient, for three years until she passed. I take great satisfaction in the fact that the healthcare prolonged her life, and the outings and other things we did made her life pleasant. Distinctive Healthcare awarded me Employee of the Quarter for the work I did with her.
