Basic duties for Service provider/Care Giver working in the home revolve around providing care one-on-one for a client.  Assisting with bathing and grooming - This include but is not limited to: shampooing hair, finger and toenail care, brushing teething, and shower assistance.  Basic food preparation - From grocery shopping to actually preparing the food, it’s important to ensure the client displaying proper nutrition.  Medication reminders – Ensuring that medications are taken at the correct time as directed by the doctor.  Light housekeeping – Ensuring keeping a safe and clean environment. Duties related to housekeeping will typically involve making the bed and cleaning the bathroom and kitchen.  Transferring the client – Ensuring transferring the client from chairs, from the toilet, from bed, and to and from a vehicle.  Toileting – Assisting with using the toilet to encourage comfort and prevent any infections.  Transportation – Using my car most times to help take the client to doctor’s appointment and other activities.  Monitoring changes in client’s health – When following the care plan, I provide information to the supervising nurse on changes in health of the client that are of concern and important which may need medical attention.  Companionship – Ensuring good working relationship and confident with the client all day.
