I became a caregiver because my sister was born with cerebral palsy. I help my mom take care of her and felt like I could assist other parents who had children with a disability. I knew how hard if was for my mom and the time I help I felt it was a release for her to do what she needed to do so I continue to work with both children and adults who had disabilities. What I like most about being a caregiver is helping someone who needs help and is very thankful for receiving it, I like the impact that I have on them and they have on me. To see them achieve whatever it is they want to do without someone telling them they are not capable of doing it. The sense of proud I take and the quality of my work shows when I interact with the person I care for. That my sister went on and live her life she was able to graduate for a regular high school, went on and got her own apartment and job and she use to all was tell me Thank you for treating me like a person and not an illness and that I made her want to live like I lived. I have 4 children that I love and I work in a nursing home parttime working with dementia-alzheimer's I am the recreation assistant. I use finish taking a certified homehealth aid course and passed waiting on license. I am passionate about what I do I am very reliable, and dependable.
