I graduated from union high school and right after that I took my CNA course and started working at Grandview nursing center in Washington. I have experience with cerebral palsy, autism, handling g tubes, neuromuscular disorders, type 1 diabetes (have it myself as well), epilepsy, and Cornelia de Lange syndrome. I believe I am a great caregiver because I genuinely care for the people I take care of and treat them as if they were my own family. I want them to be happy when they see me and be able to confidently say I take good care of them. A few years ago, I never saw myself doing this type of work whatsoever. I honestly really needed a job and a local nursing home hired me and took me through classes to get certified! I found myself there for over a year and I knew almost everyone by name on all of the halls. I had a special bond with one lady in particular and she always loved seeing me come into her room. She always made sure to tell me how good I'm doing. Overall, just knowing I am helping those who cannot help themselves gives me some sense of purpose and it makes me feel good. You get close to the people you take care of and they become like a grandma or grandpa to you. My favorite part about having a little extra time and sitting down to talk to some of the residents. I'm fascinated by what things were like 50+ years ago and hearing all about their life and experiences. I also enjoy looking at pictures with them. Every single one of them have different quarks and personalities and it's so fun talking to some of them. I am most proud of the way I can confidently say that I take GOOD care of my residents and that I do it for more than just a check. If I can go home with a clear mind and know for sure I did the best of my ability, I know I'm doing something right. I care for them like I would want someone to care for my mom or grandparents.

My top personality traits that help me be a great caregiver, is my level of patience, communication skills, and the simple fact that I genuinely care about the people that I work with. Even though it is a job I see it as an opportunity to learn new things, and gain new perspectives on life. I worked for comprehensive health care, and have loved it sense. My mother is a CNA and works in home health care, she helped me get into this line of work. I was afraid at first but I began to truly enjoy helping others, I love hearing their story's and giving them companionship. Recently, one lady I was taking care of passed away and you never know how much of an impact they have on you until that happens. It really opened up my mind and heart working with the elderly, I personally am proud of just being able to make people happy.

My name is Brianna Weppner. I am a 20 year old outgoing and friendly person. I have a 5 month old daughter, and 2 sons, ages 7 and almost 6. I do believe i would be an excellent caregiver, as I took care of my 70 year old grandmother months before she passed, plus my children. I really have always wanted to be a caregiver to help elderly people, or even younger people in their times of need. I watched my grandmother struggle for almost 10 years and I realized how helpful I really was when she needed something she could no longer get to. I have always wanted to do something like this because I know one day i will be searching for someone to take care of me. I enjoy the fact that i get to help someone out, that i get to put a smile on someones face by just completing a small task for them. I enjoy helping others because I know if they were able, they wouldnt have to ask for help, as well as, some people are very stubborn and would rather try to do it themselves rather than asking for help. I am very proud of the fact that I like to help others, just the most simple little thing could make someones whole day/week the best theyve ever had. I love being able to sit and talk about life and things they have done or would like to do in their life. I am a person who just loves to talk to someone other than my kids, while also helping with the things they need done.
